Anyone heard of this problem? I can remove the key from the ignition of my 2014 i30 when the car is in gear, engine turned off. I thought that the key should be removable only when the car was in park. This used to be the case with my Elantra and I was told it was a standard safety feature. I took the car to my local dealer who played around with it for a couple of days, then told me that they had contacted Hyundai who said this safety feature was not on the i30. Is anybody else having this problem?

I think that they might be telling you porky pies.  Our work cars are GD i30s and from memory you cannot turn the key to remove it unless it is in Park.  Unfortunately I won't be able to check for you until December.  Can you wait that long?   :whistler:

You should not be able to remove the key until it is in the OFF position. I assume your car is an auto, if so you should not be able to turn key to OFF until gear selector is in PARK.
In NSW at least it is a rego inspection fail if key can be removed in gear.
