I wouldn't recommend them for a couple of reason. The 18's on the SR are bordering on harsh if you run higher pressures (I find 34 PSI acceptable) The other consideration is the cost of tyres... The bigger you go the less choice and the higher the price.

I think the 18's on the SR fill the guards nicely (mind you I am in my 60's)

I can tell you the 18's firm up the ride considerably, 19's would be too harsh imo and the extra cost involved in 19's and up is quite a big increase.

I always would look at what the cop cars were wearing to see what was effective, not so much the performance show ponies.

Thanks, yeah had 18's with a 40 profile tyre on my Maz 3 and quiet liked the ride but have never had 19's and that would be a 35 profile.

No give in the sidewalls, so no protection for rims from potholes, curbs and even just dips in the road.
The same lack of give means more risk of sidewall damage.
Tyre sidewalls are designed as part of the suspension system.
So super low profile tyres are fine on circuit standard roads. On anything else, they're a liability.
TBH, even 18" is pushing the envelope.

They can be more prone to it for sure, 35 profile doesn't have much give if you happen to hit a bad section of road (pot holes) or a curb at the wrong angle, city driving probably isnt so bad as roads are better but on country roads I'd be wary.

I've not had an issue on my 18's but I've seen plenty of damaged 19's - 20's

Interestingly I had a slow leak in the 19's on my Calais V and when it was repaired they showed me how the wheel was actually buckled. it was repairable, but I just made it my spare... I traded it shortly afterwards.

Wrong side of the spectrum but I replaced my 16” with 15”, does a big difference on these terrible roads around here. Cant fit smaller though, the control arms and calipers wont fit.
