Hi everyone getting a tow bar installed on my Hyundai I30
Se 2013. My girlfriend and I move a lot and I thought it would be useful. Just wondering if I hired a trailer from Bunnings am I able to use one of the larger trailers? Or am I best to use the small one and do multiple trips instead?

Unbraked towing capacity is your best bet. Should be in book,  roughly 750 kg inc trailer.

Don't think I'd feel comfortable towing with the 3 dr, the IRS used in the 3 door isn't great for towing and with lower power it'll struggle.

If the towed and ball weight is within the towing limits they regard it as safe, I just don't think the 3dr is really suited for it.

Will they have to cut into the rear bumper to fit a tow bar? the 3 dr's bumper is a lot lower than the  5 dr hatch.

back in 2008 I had an i30 turbo Diesel 5 speed man, with tow bar, had a 4x8 box trailer ( unbraked ). towed that trailer all over NSW including far west, had it on max load a few times. just allow more distance to stop. but the little car handled towing, better than I thought.

but if your's auto don't push it too hard!

mine was a different model, but Hy used to cut into rear bumper to fit there factory tow bar, mine was local made and did not need to cut into bumper, just had to remove a plastic cover that went under rear of car.

@Lakes Totally different car, the 2dr GD is 1.6ltr petrol (non turbo).

Are the tow bars bolted on? Can I unbolt one from a wreck, or are they welded on?
