Wont Start
Hi. My car developed a problem today. Normally from cold the engine coil light goes out after a second and the car starts. Today, twice from cold, the light goes off and comes back on when I turnover, thus stopping power gertibg to the starter motor. From warm it starts ok. Do I have a faulty sensor?

Thanks Mark

Hi there,

I am new to this forum so forgive me if this post is in the wrong place!

We picked up a 2010 i30 Auto Comfort 1.6 a week or so ago. The car has 40k miles on it & seems to drive nicely. There is 1 thing I am concerned about & that is, when stopped with foot on the brake in either D or R, you will hear a rattling from the engine & feel a very subtle vibration. Once the car starts moving this goes away, as does it if you shift the car into N. It drives perfectly otherwise.

I have done a bit of reading & many people point to worn engine mounts, which matches the symptoms, but the difference is they say you would only notice a vibration in D & not R if it was engine mounts? Other information I found poi...

Problems & Issues
Hi folks
The cars done 176K without any major dramas fortunately, however there's now an intermittent knocking and creaking noise  coming from the front left somewhere ?
I've been under it and looked around, pushed and pulled and waggled everything without finding anything really specific.
One thing I have noticed is some play in the CV joint at the wheel hub.
I checked against the drivers side to compare this and there appears to be almost zero play there.

Could this be the culprit I wonder ?

Question - has anyone else experienced a similar fault ?

Also, totally unconnected but in the same area, the park light bulb has blown.
You would think an easy one to replace but I...

My car seems to think that I have a passenger (front) when no one is in the seat.

The flashing seatbelt light comes on and the alarm beeps for 2 minutes. If I clip the seat belt in it goes away.

Would I be correct that it is just a sensor and my local Hyundai can fix easily?

Also as the car is only 2 Year’s old (im the second owner)would it be covered under warranty?

Door Locking
I am hoping someone may have heard this happening before, since fixing the drivers window regulator the door locks attempt to actuate 4 to 5 times once the key is inserted in ignition, this is not causing a issue it is just damn annoying hearing the clunk clunk clunk each time i get in the car.
Any advice would greatly appreciated.

Kangaroo start
Hello All,

I recently bought an 2 year old i30 Auto, its been 4-5 days. I have never had a auto before, so cannot say for certain if this is the car or just the fact of life for automatic (DCT) transmissions, but here's what happens.
The start is, on occasion jerky, and the car takes a few seconds to find the right gear/ speed. Also, speeding up is a hit and a miss at low speeds. The ride isn't smooth, its not bad, but I can feel the car constantly trying to second guess and moving the gears, so do not really feel as if I am in control. Also, the stop is always jerky, on applying the breaks the car jerks, even at low speeds.

Is this normal for a car, considering that it is still under manufacturers warranty, do yo...

As I mentioned in previous posts under "General Discussion", my i30 was making an unhealthy sound which was determined to be a timing chain problem. But due to the cost and complexity of doing the repairs with the engine still in the car, my mechanic suggested we get a low mileage motor from a Hyundai wrecker on the Sunshine Coast. He got one with supposedly 75,000 on it, where mine was up at just over 252,000kms. Sounded like a good idea.

I picked it up yesterday with glowing reports from him about what a lovely little car it is to drive. I hadn't gone more than 100 metres in it, when I put the foot down a bit in second gear, and it just died! It restarted OK, but each time I tried to accelerate, it would do it again. By "dying"...

This is a reasonably comprehensive yet simple article on the DPF in diesels.

Hi all

Has anyone done this before or could point me in the right direction?

Hyundai foot rest arrived yesterday but doesn't fit. Do I simply have the wrong part number or will I need to get creative in getting this to fit?

Thanks in advance :) [img width=800 height=450]https...

Problems & Issues
re: i30 PD with Auto Link (ODB connected bluetooth module)

Has anybody else's Auto Link suddenly stopped working after 13th October 2017?
Mine was working "fine" up until that date, and since then, no further comms.
When re-connecting to it, the module shows up and is selectable, but once selected, it can't communicate with the car, to read the VIN for example.
Fails bluetooth connectivity test, blue light doesn't illuminate on the module either.
