Hello, I recently bought a 1.0 tgdi 2017 new, and have noticed the gear change especially from 1st to 2nd is not smooth as I pass through the neutral point. there is a lot of resistance and not a single movement. In general have tried pulling hard to left.. but still heavy resistance and a click as I pass through neutral. It is as if there is something blocking in the neutral zone that gives up when more force is applied. It doesnt improve when the engine is warm, clutch is fully pressed. Problem less from 3rd to 2nd but still 90% of time not a smooth movement as it goes down into 2nd. Esp when changing gear fast it is frustrating. Anyone else having a similar experience?

Welcome Columbus,

That is disappointing. Have you discussed this with the dealer?

The new series 3 (PD) i30 was only released this month in Australia where a good number of our members reside. We don't get the 1.0 litre version here, but I assume the same gearbox is used in at least all petrol versions. Australian delivered versions are most likely from a different factory (Korea) than yours too...

Hopefully some members have 2017 manual models to compare. I think it was released a bit earlier in Europe and the UK.

Hello Dazzler, no not been discussed with the dealer yet.

It may just require a slight adjustment. If not hopefully it will improve with time and mileage (as they sometimes do)

Early i30's were a bit notchy (2007-2009) but most of the more recent manuals were better (and some were awesome in that regard)
