My car seems to think that I have a passenger (front) when no one is in the seat.

The flashing seatbelt light comes on and the alarm beeps for 2 minutes. If I clip the seat belt in it goes away.

Would I be correct that it is just a sensor and my local Hyundai can fix easily?

Also as the car is only 2 Year’s old (im the second owner)would it be covered under warranty?

Hi i30SR,
Make sure its turned off ,
Pop your head under the seat and just look to see if the connections OK, give them a squeeze , try again.  If it's still doing it book in for repair at Hy , will be covered by warranty 👍

Is there anything on the seat such as a bag as the weight on the seat can cause the sensor to bleep.

My GD sometimes exhibits this behaviour. At other times it doesn't even register when someone IS in the seat (ie, no chimes when I set off and passenger is unbuckled).

To fix, I slide the seat forwards or backwards by 1 notch.

Not saying that's your issue i30SRPremium but it does show that the underseat connection/wires/coupling can be suspect.

Check the integrity of your wiring under the seat.

Nothing on the seat (once had the wife call me telling me her car Mazda ca5 was beeping. First thing I told her was to take her hand bag off her seat) had a quick look at the wiring and all connections appear to be in tact and wiring looks brand new.

Went to my dealer this morning to have my issue looked at.

Confirmed it is the sensor pad and they ordered it in.

Will get it replaced under warranty in 2 weeks when I’m next available  :)
