Pick up day is tomorrow. 3rd May 18.  Early afternoon..
I will post up more photo's of the car, hopefully in a bit of sunshine.
As I must say it does look a little red in those photos. With a bit of shade around..

Purchased new front splits to go in the front..  So should not be long before some work on the stereo.
Then to take out amps & crossover from my old car. To get ready to transplant in..

Nice car  :goodjob:

Hyundai's starting to get some nice colours, the Kona range is fantastic and it's working it's way through the entire range.

What was the old car?

2001 Holden Astra.  Which I still will own. Not 100% sure what I'll do with it yet.
As it has been a very reliable car in the 8 years I have had it..

Often cars like that can be worth more to you as a spare runabout than what you can sell them for. Just need to use it enough to justify the rego and other ongoing costs. You'll certainly notice the difference.  :goodjob2: :goodjob:

I haven't really been doing much with car so far. Doing  12hr shifts hasn't given me much time to do much or even check things out.

Though I was able to get on Amazon & order 4 gauge cable ring terminal, 140a breaker,  2 x single  1/0 g in 2 x 4 g out distribution block & a Rockford Fosgate speaker to RCA converter.
Getting all ready for the stereo install..  When I finish this round of shifts this Wednesday morning. I'll be taking the amps & electronic crossover out of my old car.
Hopefully my new speakers will be here during the week..
So far I have been pretty happy with the car. Only thing I've been having trouble is. Is how high the centre storage bin is. Not used to having on there.
I just feel strange having to hold my arm up to be changing gear like that.

I took a couple of more photos today while at work.  But it was quite a bit wet in the morning & quite cloudy when I took the photos.
The car is still looking very red in the photos. Maybe when it there is some sun out the orange will come though..

It looks like a really bright red (as you say) I like it though. As I said before it really "zings"

I hadn't seen that colour in the flesh when I ordered mine, but i have since.

Had I seen it earlier I may have gone that way, although SWMBO would have been even less happy. She preferred my previous car...

Nice. One of the last Aussie bulit cars..  :goodjob2:
I have owned quite a few Commodores in the past. Mainly V8's.  Very nice to drive & power.  But fuel usage can be high.

Gave the car a Meguiar's Quik Wax this morning. After a high pressure wash late yesterday arvo.
Comes up pretty good & not to hard to apply. Around half an hour all up to complete..
A couple of small little mods done yesterday.   Took off the Hyundai rear badge & painted it in a Satin Black acrylic.
Would like to do the front one as well. But it's not to easy to remove. Looks like some sort of plastic rivets holding it on.
And not very easy to get behind it either. Without removing the whole bar..   So I might tape up around it & cover the car in drop sheets.  Hmmm :undecided:
I also debadged the i30 badge..  Still undecided if to do the SR badge as well..  The to front guard SR badges will be staying for sure..

Be a bit careful what you do with the front Hyundai badge! The radar cruise control is behind it. That's why it's different to the lesser models!

With mine being a Manual it's not available.   From Hyundai's website:
"Available on Elite, Premium, SR (DCT only) and SR Premium variants. Optional on Go and Active variants (Auto & DCT transmissions only) at an additional cost"

Which I didn't even know the i30's had..     Though I couldn't see any cabling down that way..

Get yourself a spray can of satin black Plasti Dip and you'll be able to spray without removing the emblem, mask off the front and leave a hole just for the emblem.

The same process could have done on the rear as well but you've already done it :)

Personal opinion. I think the Phoenix Orange is the most stand out colour in the range..
I think you have made the correct choice.  :victory:

Agreed!

Quick question. How is the rear Hyundai logo held on? Just clips? I assume you removed it to paint?

Also, did you just use pressure pack?

I feel I may be stealing this idea!

I can see what you mean by the rear SR badge. Would look real clean without it but it's a nice distinction from the non-SR variants.

I used a heat gun & a credit card type card. Heat up the badge to soften the adhesive.
Then push the card between the panel & badge. With enough heat it comes off quite easy.
I used Septone Acrylic satin black with Etch primer underneath.
Then just super glue to put it back on.  Real easy to do.
I did remove the I30 badge. Still thinking about taking off the rear SR badge..

Super Glue to put it back on!

I hope it was a good quality one... Super glue can be pretty crap longevity wise.

I would have used either 3M double sided tape  or Loctite 401 glue. Loctite Glues are amazing.  :goodjob:

Well it was Loctite super glue
I have used super glue with all the other badges on other cars in the past without any trouble.
As there is still some of the original foam adhesive still left on the badge.

What happens if you ever change your mind and want it removed for some other reason, I would have thought be much simpler to leave in place and spray with Plasti Dip.

No undercoat needed and if any overspray it simply peels off :)
