Decided to give my headlights a refurb. the clear was flaky and going off on the topside. Whilst the frontal area was still ok  thought it would be best to do it before it was completely gone.

Used the Duplicolor Kit which has a spray on UV Clear. better than the Turtle kit with the wipes.

Designed to be sprayed on wet and then it runs off and self levels.

results, not too bad but dependant on how good the surface is.

problem I had was some of the old clear was ok, other parts crazing and flaking.

appearance is a lot better and slight yellowing gone.

if i was doing it again I'd try and strip the entire surface and machine buff it.

Don't have before shots

Looks pretty good Gerard. One of my mates (the guy who did my wheels) is doing up a BA Falcon to sell.

He did his headlights with 1200 and 1800 grit paper (wet) and cutting compound, I think. They may be glass though?

Won't be glass but the UV coating is necessary or else in no time the plastic will cloud and go off again

They look pretty good to me, mate. :goodjob:

Have you had the cluster off at any time? I'm keen to know whether the indicator lamp socket is the twist off type, for easy upgrading to switchback white / amber LED DRL as posted in my ideas thread.

Looks great  :goodjob2:
I used the 3M polishing kit with electric drill on Missus's Getz head lights as they were dull, cloudy, & flaky. So basically rough to fine sandpaper stuck on drill pad, then final polish with paste & water.

I didnt use any protective UV coating, but the getz headlights are still clear after 8 months. Mind you her car is parked out of the sun most of the time

They've come up like new Gerard, top job :goodjob:
Well, not quite, you can still some crazing when the lights on but it's about as good as you can get without getting newies.
