Today I finally took the risk to replace the traditional instrument cluster with the newer supervision one! I bought it from autoparts24.co.uk. The swap was plug and play and extremely easy, there are just 8 screws to be removed. The only problems are that the new cluster reads much less km that my car actually has since it has been removed from a newer salvage car and the seat belt warning is not as loud as the old cluster. It is a lot more ‘cleaner’ and also has some more modern sound effects compared to the old one. It also has a car service reminder. I don’t have any pictures of the swapping process but I have the finished product!
If anyone is interested in the process I can happily explain step by step. I have also ordered a gd-02 headunit to replace the standard one. Still waiting for that!

Looks good :goodjob2: it'll be beneficial for other members if you could explain the process, including me as I wouldn't mind doing it myself if it's possible to find one for a manual :undecided:

I hope GD02 is a typo and you've ordered the GD03 head unit which has apple play and android auto :undecided:

Hahaha unfortunately it is not a typo! I ordered the gd-02 because I wasn’t able to find any gd-03. Found some on gumtree but the sellers are not responding so I had no choice...

Installing the supervision cluster. Slide towards you the cluster shade and it will reveal 4 screws which you have to remove, the rest of the shade comes off after that. Then you have to lower the steering wheel and extend it outwards so you can have more room to work. Further more at the bottom of the cluster pull the plastic cover towards you (its a little bit hard so don’t be afraid). You will see 2 screws at the top and 2 at the bottom of the cluster which you will have to undo them. Then the cluster is free and you have to disconnect the connector. Connect the new cluster and repeat the steps in reverse to put everything back together!

As bought from co.uk i presume uk supplier.

So if so is it not a miles readout rather than kilometers?

Also, in my service book you can record details of odometer change for service records etc
  • 1.4 Petrol Active I'm no expert, so please correct me if

Diesel is no good, has to be petrol...I wont be paying that sort of price though  $200 or $300 maybe but not $940 :faint:

Just checked and Super vision clusters are $100 here through ebay wreckers :) just need to find one for a manual petrol :fingers:

It is a UK supplier but I think they buy products internationally thats why it reads in km.

Ebay with Australian wreckers, there's no price difference between standard or supervision all $100 - £56 :) there's quite alot for auto models.

Found one for my manual though KM's are a little high so I'll wait till I find a lower km one, odometer can also be set through Hyundai apparently but they'll likely slug you for it.

BRILLIANT :happydance: Especially since i have a cluster waiting for my GD  :goodjob:

As the one i have bought is in MPH, ill just swap the MPH backplate and use the one i have in my cluster now :-)

Did you think about tryng to move the EPROM over to get your original KM-reading back? Was thinking that circuit-board that doesnt control the LCD-scrren might be comaptible & hold the EPROM, or just desolder original & solder it into the new cluster? Since i havent seen the guts of my standard cluster yet, i cant tell whicj option is needed :-)

BTW i paid 85£ for mine incl P&P to Denmark from ireland on Ebay.

GD-02 installed too! The only problem was the camera (A9) wire which I had to remove in order for the head unit to work.

If you have PCB-pictures of the standard cluster, it would be superb, thank you  :goodjob:

i finally got around to getting a GD supervision cluster installed in my baby as well!

cost involved $100 for the instrument cluster on ebay, $200 ish for the km's to be wound back and matching the current kms, and about $50 to get it fitted.

now for the bad news, there's a few slight issues.

- There's a item called, Three point turn, buried in the setting menu, and selecting it causes a little hiccup/crash. My old dash had how many indicator flashes in its place. 3/5/7.

- There is a warning light called EPB in amber that is lit up. i assume it is short for Electronic Parking Brake.....in which my car doesn't have. Might have to pull the cluster out and try to get to the globe/LED and take it out.

Everything else is flawless.....

The EPB LED id easy to remove. I have my supervision-cluster open at home & shouldnt take to many solderingskills for you to get rid of it, but htanks for the heads-up..Believe mine also got that so will get rid of it before install  :goodjob:

Where did you go to get the KMs wound back? Keen to do this swap (I've done it before in a 2004 Mistubishi Lancer) but am more cautious of the kms since this is a newer car

There's a place just down the road from me in the SE suburbs of Melbourne. You'll need a Statutory Declaration if the km's need to be wound back. (Justice of the Peace). I'll post a link.

Just a quick update,

my car went in for its 45,000 km service, and the service consultant asked me if they was any issues with my car, i jokingly said there was an amber light on the dash not expecting them to fix it, and when the car came back from its service it was off. Wasn't charged anything for the fault, but they did try and up sell me set of wiper blades for $150! lol

i assume there is some way of disabling the LED via software, next time shes due for a service i'm going to ask what other software tricks they can do! (one touch up for the windows would be nice!)

I have manual, diesel. If I buy a supervision cluster for auto can I overwrite the software, to make it suitable for manual?

Wouldn't there be other hardware differences like gear selector indicators? :undecided:

I would say it maybe possible, if you can find a dump of the eeprom dump for the manual diesel cluster. The EEPROM (which stores odometer value) appears to contain additional data for the cluster (like if it is diesel / petrol). When I converted mine to a supervision cluster, I was able to convert a petrol cluster motherboard to diesel by reflashing a dump of a diesel EEPROM from a non-supervision cluster successfully.

I tried to solder my original EEPROM from my cluster onto the new diesel hypervision cluster but I ended up lifting tracks from too much heat. Grabbed a petrol hypervision cluster from the wreckers, flashed the EEPROM using a dump from my original cluster onto it, and put the motherboard into the diesel one. Everything worked ok, including tacho (verified using my clone VCDS).

Note that for flashing the EEPROM (M93C66) you need a very fine tipped soldering iron, as the SMD package is extremely small (TSSOP-8 IIRC), and you need an EEPROM dumper / burner.

In hindsight it maybe better to pay someone to do it. I chose to do it was I was quoted a price of $299 in Brisbane, with the vehicle off the road for 7 business days + a signed letter from a JP /  documentation from dealer with actual vehicle mileage.

So it's possible though not an easy job by any standards, are all required auto/manual differences within the centre digital cluster...nothing on the gauges :undecided:

Is there not an option to obtain from a wrecker the manual supervision cluster :undecided:
