Title: Bluetooth problems on 2009 i30
Post by: 123damo on December 23, 2018, 13:43:41
Hey there guys and gals,

I just came across your forum tonight and am hoping someone may be able to help me out.

I have recently bought an i30 2009 hatch and it has a standard stereo system, looks similar to this:
 :link: HYUNDAI I30 STEREO RADIO CD MP3 PLAYER 96160-2L200 2007 2008 2009 2010 2011 | eBay (https://www.befr.ebay.be/itm/HYUNDAI-I30-STEREO-RADIO-CD-MP3-PLAYER-96160-2L200-2007-2008-2009-2010-2011-/222536021770)
(this isn't mine, I just found it on google)

It also has a Bluetooth Phone piece wired above the driver door (BT V01). I can pair via bluetooth fine on my Android phone and my girlfriends iPhone also pairs to it fine. However when it's paired it just beeps repeatedly like some kind of error code.

Two part question, any help appreciated!!!

1. Does anyone know what this error code indicates and how to resolve it?

2. Maybe I will consider replacing the stereo with a newer one which include bluetooth functionality (phone calls & music via phone). I contacted Hyundai regarding replacing the entire stereo with the new Android Auto system although they say the 2009 model is too old. Can anyone recommend a compatible replacement unit? Or alternatively, an attachment which delivers the same functionality to my existing stereo?

Thankyou soooo much!

Cheers

The beeping sound seems similar to what happens when a button is continually held down, are all buttons on the stereo and steering wheel functioning correctly :undecided:

If you're wanting to go the aftermarket route Arepro are the main distributors for suitable fascia's/patch leads/harnesses  :link: Hyundai i30 2007-2012 FD | Aerpro (https://aerpro.com/vehicles/hyundai/hyundai-i30-2007-2012-fd#-)

"Top Audio Shop" on eBay are an Aerpro distributor who I'm sure would be happy to help with all parts required if you contact them, then all you have to decide is if you want a cheaper Android system off eBay or purchase a brand name unit like JVC - Pioneer etc  :link: Hyundai i30 08-11 Manual Double Din car stereo facia fascia kit dash panel trim | eBay (https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Hyundai-i30-08-11-Manual-Double-Din-car-stereo-facia-fascia-kit-dash-panel-trim/321791324269?hash=item4aec41f06d:g:hhYAAOSwI2xbalkC)

Awesome, thanks for the fast replies guys

craigb - thanks for the suggestion i'll take a closer look at the buttons, there are only the three buttons as pictured in tw2005's post (there are no buttons on the steering wheel)

tw2005 - Yes that's the one

Cheers guys, checking out the android units now, maybe I need to get myself a bday present

Does the term "double din" relate to the shape? and therefore any of these fit as long as i get the correct facia?

Example units:
:link: Double Din Headunits | In-Car Multimedia | Frankies (https://frankiesautoelectrics.com.au/double-din/)

Are there other considerations as well as physical shape/size? e.g. type of plugs/cables or power/amps/etc? Or is that more of a question for the supplier? i.e. tell them my model and they tell if it's compatible?

something like this looks great:

Thanks again!

At the end of that other post there are 2 links to the manuals and installation, not very comprehensive. Hopefully the shared links work  :goodjob2:

Found little for beep codes so can't help there. we have one in the Mrs car and she's the only one who pairs up

Double DIN is what you require and yes it’s the size, single DIN are the older slim type.

The Pioneer unit you’ve linked is fine if all you require is Bluetooth, usually most want the Apple Car Play/Android Auto these days for the added connectivity features which using your same shop would make the following unit quite desirable for the cost and features included  :link: PIONEER AVHZ5150BT | MULTIMEDIA PLAYER APPLE CARPLAY ANDROID AUTO (https://frankiesautoelectrics.com.au/pioneer-avh-z5150bt-7-multimedia-player-with-apple-carplay-android-auto-bonus-rcamavic/)

For a little extra the wireless CarPlay features of the following unit would be nice to have and it’s almost at half price  :)  :link: Pioneer AVH-Z9150BT 7? Touch-screen Apple CarPlay? That one might be overkill on a 9 year old car.
