LED stripes based trunk light

This is my LED stripes based lighting system mounting photo-guide.


1. Cut the LED stipes to desired lenght


2. Prepare power socket and socket handler with 8mm holes


3. Install power socket


4. Fit the handler on the bottom of the trunk shelf


5. Connect the LED stripes to the power socket


6. I have also prepared a cable holder on the second side of the shelf



7. Glue the stripes to the shelf.


8. Remove the plastic rail


9. Remove the orginal trunk light, instert a cable with power connector on the one side.


10. Connect the wires on the other side of the cable to the lamp power lines (red= +12V, brown=ground)


11. Insert the rail back into place


12. Mount the shelf and connect the power source


And here is the result:

I did the same thing across the back of my 50" plasma to try and replicate the Philips LCD ambiant light effect... (it works well  :D)
  • 2021 MG PHEV ( had 4 x i30 plus a Getz an Elantra and a Tucson)

If and when you remove back shelf is it just a push in/pull out connector and takes a jif?
