Hi guys

I found a previous thread on this but couldn't add to it unfortunately.

Bought a new i30, 67 plate, a week or so ago. This morning when i got in the door wouldn't stay shut. On checking outside the handle was stuck out. It went back in easy enough.

Anyone know the easiest solution for this? It's wd40 safe for the paint work if i squirt some in?

Cheers, Marc

Thanks for the reply mate but I'm not returning a great car at a good price due to a sticky handle. I'm sure there is a simpler solution

I think TW meant to take it {back} to a dealership for a warranty diagnosis & fix.

Me? I'd try to clear what's probably dirt ingress, using a dose of WD40 carefully directed using the straw.

Has happened to me.

I just gave squirt of wd40 and alls been well.

You can remove the handle easy if you want to take off and check the seatings ok and plastic body of handle.

There is an old postfor the fd but i think it should be same for gd.

Open door.
On open side you will see a pastic type circular grommet level with door handles .
Prise out.
Undo bolt i think and handle will just pull out.

Hi guys

I've just sorted it hopefully.

First i took that grommet off to see the bolt and could see a lot of moisture on it.  When i then took the handle off there was moisture inside too. It was also dry in the main sliding bit of the handle and had some dirt but not much. So i dried where i could and used a hair dryer inside for a couple of minutes. I then used some high temperature grease and lubed up.

I checked all handles and they all had a bit of moisture on that nut but the rear handles didn't have any moisture inside. The front passenger side had a bit inside and i dried it off and lubed it.

I'm not sure whether it is the company i bought it off using a jet washer when cleaning ready for sale or if it's a design flaw that allows rain in which in turn caused the issue?

I've had no issues since.
I think may be jet wash is to blame here.

Monitor over next few weeks and see if moisture returns to cause sticking.

Glad sorted.....

I had that problem and the dealer fixed it. It's a factory defect along with the drains on the doors.

Water would not drain out.  When I  washed the car and dried around the door at the bottom about a half liter of water poured out.  I took it to the dealer and was told that it was a common problem and they repIred it and the sticking door handles at the same time.  The drains are on the under side of the front doors toward the front of the door.

That's interesting, just had to run down to the garage to check mine.
Look to be 2 nice big holes at the bottom of the door skin, can't imagine why they wouldn't drain properly.
Poked a wire up and seems to be plenty of free space inside.
Do you know what the dealer did to fix them ?

Might be a Europe only thing. Different factory.   :goodjob:

I  don't know what the dealer did but I haven't had a problem since.  My I30 is Euro spec and was built in Czech,  it looks different from the one that you have posted also.

There isn't much difference cosmetically between the Korean Built i30's Australia gets and the ones built in Czech factory.

There is a bit mechanically though. In the current model we get 2.0 Petrol 1.6 Turbo Petrol and 1.6 Diesel only.

I believe you guys get 1.0 Petrol Turbo (3 cylinder) 1.4 Turbo Petrol and 1.6 Diesel. We also have a slightly revised suspension tune.

I must have looked at the wrong picture our I30's look the same and mine is a one liter turbo petrol as you say. The euro version also comes with a 1.6 liter.  Happy New Year!

That is interesting. I can't recall a Euro member with a 1.6 petrol PD model. Most if not all have the 1.0 or 1.4 petrol or the 1.6 Diesel.  :undecided:

You're probably correct. I went for the smallest motor  (1.0) because of the price of gasoline here.  Diesel isn't very popular in Germany right now.
