I can't really see the point. If you and your passengers are careful opening your doors you shouldn't need them. Not being a smart arse, but it's other people's doors that usually do the damage.

If you have a narrow garage, some strategically placed foam on the walls is a good idea (as Craig and others on here have done)

4 quid and you can slip them off abd on as you please especially when washing the car....

Clear is a good idea. I've seen a few cars with black or white ones which look naff (ugly)
