  • the older I get, the faster I was
as I reached the 15000 km mark, I thought I will do the service myself.
bought oil, genuine oil filter and air filter.
first thing that was weird, the oil filter did not have the Mobis sticker (could be some second source oem) and the pn was 1 number up, the one that was fitted with the Mobis sticker ended with 03 and the one I bought ended with 04. both were the same otherwise.
the oil filter did not come with the crash washer, so I bought a copper crash washer.

started with building a ramp to lift up the car.
all the info I about oil change is for the 2L petrol engine or Diesel  engine.
as it appears, the drain bolt in the 1.6L petrol is facing to the front of the car and not to the back.
the oil filter is in the middle and not blocked by any cover, and facing down.
opened the drain plug and discovered that the mechanic did not use a crash washer, just tightened the bolt so much that it nearly destroyed the thread.
go and relay on professionals.

taking the oil filter off took me about 1.5 hours. after a long battle and bloodshed, I discovered that my chain oil filter wrench, was just jammed against the engine block. this is why the filter would not move  :Jaw:
after realizing this, kept the chain on the edge of the filter and half a minute later, the filter was out. time to get a decent wrench.

my daughter changed the air filter by herself (almost).
after a Friday full of making, the wife is upset that I did not have time to help her with the cleanings.... :Hos:

it takes time for the pictures to load and show.
from past experience it takes about 2 hours from inserting the pics until they show up.

They're links to html pages, not image files, so they'll never show up.

Thanks, I like your simple but effective ramp design. Bought ramps can be expensive!

I don't have the wood dimensions and only in the weekend I will be able to measure.
but I have the dimensions I cut and used.
3 logs of 60 cm in length, 6 logs of 10 cm in length.
10 cm overlap between each step of 60 cm.
put another 2 pieces of 10 cm in the middle of the last section where the wheel stop for extra support.
and a stopper just before the end of the last section. used my eyes, did not measure.
the firewall at work would not let me add an image so I attached one. hopefully it will load.
if not, on the weekend from home I will load it.

this ramp gives enough clearance for me to go under the car and not feeling claustrophobic.
I am not so small, can loose 15 kilograms or more.
so if you are a big guy, you will need a forth section, but then the car would tilt too mach to the back.

I used an old log that was laying around in the garden.
its 19 cm by 4.5 cm.
for each ramp I used 3 60 cm long sections with overlap of 10 cm.

Dazzler,
I am not familiar with the Ausy slang so couldn't understand what you wrote.
the only words I know of in Ausy are cheers mate, and that's about all.

Sorry, it was a play on words.. wooden instead of wouldn't (being that you used wood to make the ramp)
