Title: i30 1.6 CRDI Blue Drive Active 2013 - Average Mileage
Post by: kspattees on February 27, 2017, 21:15:51
Hi All,

I have bought i30 1.6 CRDI Blue Drive Active 2013 model on last week, based on reviews I decided to buy this car as it gives very good mileage.
I am using this car mostly in motor ways daily 45 miles with maximum speed of 70mph + 30 miles in 55mph speed due to road work.

But my i30 is giving very low mileage 58 miles per gallon. The car was serviced in September 2016 at 38,000 miles from Hyundai dealer. The current miles on the clock is 38,300.  The car was not used much as it was a company car.

The Hyundai says it gives average 76.3 miles per gallon. But real mileage is very low compare to my previous Honda Civic 2005 1.4 Petrol car, which was giving 50 miles per gallon in the same route. The new diesel car blue drive active gives only 58 miles per gallon.

I am totally disappointed about the mileage of the  i30 1.6 CRDI car as I bought this car because of good mileage. This is my first week with i30 car, I am not sure what's wrong in the car.

Do I need to do service again as it was not used much?

Please guide me to fix this issue. I am totally disappointed about fuel economy of the car.

Thanks in advance!

Hi  and welcome to the forum :D

How have you been measuring your fuel usage/economy?

I am not sure that I am reading this correctly:-

You seem to be saying that your getting 2 MPG short of 60 miles per gallon and your dissatisfied ????

Have I understood correctly, please correct me if I am befuddled  :faint: :faint: :faint:

I have a 2013 CRDi GD 5 Door Tourer, Diesel 1.6lt, Auto...  so it WILL be a bit different - but I'd kill for 58mpg! I'm getting 44mpg!

Observations:

I'd be happy with a real measured 58mpg at the fuel pump!...

On an aside - the handbook says that my Auto (in a no-wind factory test) should get 51mpg.

(reminds me - I should update that thread with the latest details...)

Another observation is that the i30 Auto isn't as efficient at 70mph as it is at 66mph (100kmph).
I set the cruise control at 2250rpm and I've found it to be the best compromise for speed and consumption.  Even if I go to 2500rpm it will start to drink more.

wished mine did 58mpg more often...I've got the same engine as yours but in a classic form and I only average about 45mpg....best mpg I had was 61mpg but that was literally driving like a nun

According to this site :link: Hyundai i30 (2012 on) - Real MPG | Honest John (http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/realmpg/hyundai/i30-2012) where people submit their mpg,  you're doing just above average so I wouldnt worry about ur car.  All manufacturer figures are way over inflated, cus they are in a perfect rolling test station and not on the road.
