Title: Hyundai i30 2014 ambient light
Post by: andrei2306 on February 02, 2019, 13:50:58
Hello i bought a Hyundai i30 from 2014 and i have a problem with the ambient light. When i open the door the light doesn't turn ok, the switch is on the middle position. The light is working just when you turn on on the right position . My problem is when i open the door. Anybody know where is the problem??

Have a look at the rubber button switch on the door pillars, on the GD model I sometimes find that if I've accidently grabbed/bumped the switch the button inside the rubber will dislodge itself...squeezing the rubber boot will always re-seat it if it's out.

If 1 door, which one?

If one is sticking (particularly the driver's door) maybe it will stop the light coming on for all doors? Just a thought..  :undecided:

So if a passenger gets out, the driver remains in darkness..another thought

I think if all lights are out but  come on with the switch to on, it maybe a BCM issue or in that cct

It has been hot  lately.

The 1 door question has already been answered "All Doors"

The suggestion on the drivers door switch jamming and preventing all others triggering the lamp is illogical

Lights working with switch to ON, bypasses BCM grounding cct and illuminates lamp

Switch to door position, no Lamps.

In this position the BCM feeds the ground, therefor missing ground signal  from BCM.

OEM diagnostic can perform actuation test and command the room lamps to on via the BCM, maybe that's an option to fault find.

Hot side is fused not ground so that suggests it's not a fuse issue because they illuminate on bypass.

That's all i got, here's the diagrams, maybe someone can find a hole  in my theory for another cause or fuse :goodjob2:
