Hi all,

I recently bought a i30 PD SR Premium and went through the manual like a hawk. However, I can't seem to get the "reverse parking aid function" where the rear mirrors dip down when reversing to work. Any ideas?

Another thread suggested a potential ECU update but the thread had no replies since 2018.

Thanks all!

Mirror switch needs to be either left or right positions from memory  :Good_luck:

Just tried that with both L and R buttons, it did not work.  :(

Hope it isn't anything electrical...

I'm not 100 sure that the 2017 SR has that feature. My non-premiun didn't. I could almost list every additional feature the premium had over the non-prem. I don't recall that being one of them.  :undecided:

Does your manual say "where fitted" ?  As Dazz says it may not be "fitted".

Yep, it says "where fitted". However I would have presumed that with the SR Premium model, it ought to have all the bells and whistle features considering it is the top model in the range.

I'll see what the dealership say when I bring it in next Tuesday for some issues with the rear spoiler being loose. In the mean time, grateful for people's thoughts :)

Bummer if so as I'm not used to just relying on the reverse camera. I miss the tall style side mirrors on my Subaru, made seeing the road and the ground so easy.

There's your opportunity to tell them "Hey, my door mirrors have stopped dipping when I reverse".  See what they do about it :snigger:

They did give you a lot over the base model SR, including but not limited to, sunroof, heated and cooled seats, Led headlights, auto up and down windows all around remote opening and closing of said windows and sunroof too I think? Plus quite a bit more I'm struggling to recall at 3am in the morning.

Quick update, the Dealership advised the 'reverse parking aid function' isn't a feature in the i30 SR. But it is on the Santa Fe...  :blubber:

An innovative Auto electrician (or maybe even our own @The Gonz )  might be able to modify it to do that.

:winker:

Could be a bit of fun creating a circuit to trigger a pulse by reverse lamp power to energise the down button for 1 second, then another pulse to the up button when lamp power is removed. Here's an idea: I'll design it for Firty and then upload video when I'm done.

Elena has same model as Griffy so that might be best way to go..

Interesting.
What software and tools do you use for this? What computer language is it?

@The Gonz
Throw a variable pot into the time cct for fine tuning.
Must say, Not a fan of Santa's set reverse dip set up - too low for me.

Yes, 1 sec would be an initial estimate but every model is different - maybe every car to a lesser degree - so the pot is a must.

Gonz is an engineer amongst his many talents so I'm guessing his mod would be electronics based, not controlled by computer software.

Indeed. It could be done easily with an Arduino or Pic but even that is overkill. A 555 based timer circuit and a couple of relays can do it more cheaply.

I small mechanical or electronic mod like this might compromise warranty but only on the parts modified, which seldom malfunction anyway.

If @The Gonz designs something suitable he'd ship it with a how to guide included I'm sure. He's an Australian Air Force Wing Commander, Engineer and educator (with a 3D printer) We are lucky to have him...
