Hi everyone just wondering if anyone has used these successfully, was wanting to put a bike rack on but it’ll come to a weight of 85kg but ball weight is only 75kg. Which I thought can i just use a hitch extender to reduce ball weight?

Any help is amazing thanks.

I don't see how a hitch extender will do anything more than add weight. Do you have a shot of the extender you have in mind?

mercedes e350 0 60

Just something basic like this so it’s not sitting on top of the ball so it reduces the tongue weight

You’ll still be over the maximum downforce weight for the rear of the vehicle, the further back you shift that weight only makes it worse.

Question:
how much weight can i pull with a hitch extender? i have a 6 1/2 ft bed with a slide in camper, im pulling a car hauler 2 axel trailer. will i be ok to do this?? the truck is set up to pull 12500 with stock hitch. thanks

One thing to note when using a hitch extender like the Hidden Hitch, # 80307, is that the the tongue weight and towing capacity of your trailer hitch will be reduced by 50 percent due to the increased leverage that is placed on your trailer hitch from your trailer.

It’s a dirt bike Carrier, dirt bike weighs 60 kgs and the carrier is around 20kg

But if it weighs this much will that actually be the weigh that’ll be on the ball? As it won’t sitting straight on it?

Like would the weight  be distributed so it’s not fully on the tongue so I could get away with it?

The point of the quote is to show that an extender will only make it worse.

The 75kg rating is there so you don't have excessive downforce weight distributed past a certain point of the vehicles rear, which can distort the rear end - affect suspension - affect steering.

However you want to twist/word it you'll still be exceeding the weight limit for the rear, your choice so do what you will.

Hey sorry guys if it seems like I’m not taking suggestions, I just wanted to know if I was able to do it safely. But from all your comments I can see that it won’t be safe too.  Thank you all for your help I’ll just use my trailer to take my bike instead of risking my suspension getting ruined lol thank you CraigB & the Gonz for your help appreciate it.

Not a problem Bazza :goodjob2:

Sounds like a light weight motorcycle trailer would be best suited for your needs, or a modified 6 x 4 with wheel rails and tie downs added
