Title: 2011 i30 1.6CRDi Drivers door won't lock/unlock with a key (only with remote)
Post by: xman750 on June 04, 2021, 14:25:29
Hi,
so I just bought the car and it is not an issue for now but I'm wondering what if one day my battery goes flat etc. So the car can be locked/unlock by the remote but when you turn the key in the door lock it will spin 180 degrees in each direction and kind of stay locked in that position (but not firmly you can keep turning it 360 degrees or more if you just used enough force). Now I have no clue about these cars just bought it 3 days ago so I'm wondering if it's a known problem and how difficut it is to fix? thx It's 90PS Classic UK version i30 hatchback if that matters thx

Sounds like the lock mechanism in the door is busted, most go the other way with the electric motor breaking and only the key working.

Has the car been broken into in the past? You could try removing the exterior door handle and seeing if you can turn the mechanism directly if you feel so inclined.
