Hi Guys,
Have searched high and low through the forums and net but can't find a solution.  We've replaced the MDPS coupling in our i30 wagon but unfortunately the vital step of locking the steering wheel before it was removed it from the column was missed. When removed the steering wheel, still attached with the multi switches and column unsurprisingly the wheel moved and locked out of position:(.    The mdps has been put back together and everything reinstated, no error lights appearing, car drives straight, now without the dreaded clunk in the steering but have the problem of the steering wheel pointed very much to the left (picture attached) when going straight or parked with wheels straight.

Please help, need a solution urgently.   Presuming this is not something that can be fixed by ASP calibration ie due to the severity of the issue?  The car is driveable but driving my husband nuts the way it is.

Yeah. That would be a pain.
Someone will offer a solution shortly I hope.
But in the meantime, have a talk to a reputable wheel alignment specialist.
I'm pretty sure the modern alignment machines have a method of sorting this.

yes a wheel alignment specialist was probably going to be one of my next ports of call.   We are at Varsity Lakes on the Gold Coast.

If everything is working normally, surely you can simply remove the wheel from the spline (the nut holding the wheel won't be you in this case) and realign it.

Haven't been able to do that since the introduction of airbags.
Not without a lot of trouble.

I think I'm missing something in my understanding. My FD's steering wheel has been off, with the airbag module carefully removed as part of the procedure, and replaced at a different angle to correct a 5 degree error. No issue at all. There must be more to it in the GD.

Nah. I'm just making the point that unless the person removing the wheel knows what they're doing, the air bag can be set off
