Hi, just wondering is there anyway to auto close the sunroof when you turn the engine off or maybe close the sunroof by the keyfob? I just bought a i30 sr premium and keep leaving it opened when I turn the car off and I keep having to turn it back on to close the sunroof all the time.

I had another car with a sunroof and when you turned the engine off it closed automatically and also had a way to close it with the keyfob.

Also, is there a way for the recycled air button to stay on ? I normally leave this on in all cars I drive so you dont smell all the car fumes and things from the outside and in the i30, it turns off after about 1 min and cant seem to get it to stay on. Is mine broken or something ?

I've been experiencing loss of hydraulic fluid, and thought it might be the clutch slave cylinder. My car is 2015 CRDi. I removed the plastic under-tray and can see that the car has an internal concentric release bearing, but the leak appears to be from the coupling in the photo. I hope that this part is separate from the release bearing, as it would be a gearbox removal job to get to it. Has anyone else had this problem? I made a short video showing how loose it is. Is this normal?

My car started developing this issue two days ago when I noticed smoke inside the car. I couldn't find the source but it smelled like burning electric installation. Car behave mostly ok, first few seconds after start either cold or warm, engine works erratic and it settles after 10-15seconds. This morning I decided to investigate further, I opened the bonnet and noticed heat coming up from alternator area. Engine was cold and the exhaust was not even warm in touch, but the alternator was very hot, couldn't touch it for longer than 2 seconds. I see no warning lights on the dashboard, car works okaish. So far I done following:
- reseated battery and cleaned connectors with sand paper,
- replaced ground cable between chassis and engi...

Oil Leak
Hi there ...

Just after some advice ... our i30 Tourer diesel has done 127,000km of trouble free motoring. Aside from upcoming trailing arms that will need replacing at some stage, our mechanic sometime last year advised me there was quite a bit of oil buildup on the engine block.

Careful investigations by myself after I degreased everything clean, revealed one (or maybe more) of the bolts fastening the inlet manifold to the engine block, has been weeping oil - refer photos below, especially 3rd photo.

I'm assuming it's diesel that's leaking not engine oil (well I'm hoping not!) given there has not been any significant drop in engine oil levels; as well based on the (excellent) topic below of gunk from EGR ...

I've just been investigating why the handbrake on my partner's car has suddenly gone slack. This is a common problem so this time I posted a video on YouTube to show how to diagnose it.

:link: Slack handbrake on Hyundai i30 - YouTube

When I took the disc off the car, the lever wasn't sticking, but I found that the circlip that retains the pivot pin had popped off and the pin was halfway to falling out completely. I had a new lever so didn't attempt to refurbish the old one. Over 10 years and 219,000 miles, the slot in the pin that the circlip snaps into had almost disappeared. As mentioned in the video, if the hand...

Well it's been 12 years since I bought my i30 new and it's still going strong. The only thing I've improved recently is to replace the headlights with LEDs, polish the headlights with a 3M kit (see before and after pics) and replace the clogged windshield washer jets with some cheapies from eBay.

Best car I've ever had. Next one will be an EV (in 2032 at this rate).

Problems & Issues
I would really appreciate any help or advice on this...

My UK 2016 i30  makes a squeaking/squealing sound as the wheels rotate but only after driving for some time eg 1/2 hour,  and after coming down a very steep hill! It usually persists for some time after this.

I have had brakes and pads replaced but it was there before and after this work, although it is slightly higher-pitched now and appears more noticeable when reversing. I had taken the car in to the dealer but they couldn't find anything obvious and the sound wasn't there when they had the car.

I have tried to video it and you can hear the sound -kind of chirping in forwards and more metallic in reverse (although slightly muffled by the am...

Hi there,

First of all, my mother language is not english so i'm gonna do my best to explain the issue i've with my i30.

I've this car for 2.5 years now, it's a 2012 GD i30 1.6 CRDI with 185.000 kms.

Last week, i went to my garage cause my gears are hard to pass so i asked him to flush the gearbox oil. He says that won't do anything and for him my clutch is almost dead.
It doesn't slip, but i've to push the pedal all the way thru to switch gears.

I wanted to replace the clutch but apparantly on this car, there is a dual mass flywheel, so replace it too is more than recommended.
He asks me 500€ for clutch replacement and 1400€ if i change the clutch + flywheel,

What do you thi...

Reversing Camera
Hi all first post on just after some information
Can you fit a OEM reverse camera from a 2017 model to 2013 hatch??
Going to upgrade head unit in the wife’s car but don’t really want to use an aftermarket camera if I can get an OEM to work but I’m only finding 2017+ cameras online
Love the idea of the hidden camera when not in use

Windscreen Washer
Morning all.
Total noob here, I use my car to get to work and back and haul things from A to B so please bear with any wrong terminology or assumptions in my post!  It's a UK RHD i30, 2012-Present "GD" flavour.

So the problem is that the windscreen washer on the passenger side doesn't seem to have any pressure behind it, it just dribbles out.  I've made a little video:

I've poked around with pins and given the nozzle itself a good wipe.  There's no water on the ground under/near the car so I don't think there's a leak anywhere, maybe just a blockage?

The driver side works perfectly fine - for the video I shoved a cloth over it...
