Thanks for sharing the link. It’s nice to see the Elite trim on the review. Usually it’s either the ‘base’ Active or the ‘drive’ SR.

The following is very very subjective…
Exterior: 3 (is it really the oldest?) > i30 > Golf (too classic) > new Corolla (too edgy)
Interior: Golf (best material) > i30 > new Corolla (where did the edge go) > 3 (ok it is the oldest)

...less subjective:
Whole package with engine, ride, space, gadgets, cost, resale (Australia): I say no more.

Overall package / bang for your buck being spot on is right where Hy is at across its range.

Well that is pleasing, considering they were comparing with the brand new model Corolla and the Hybrid to boot!

Talking of boots it only has 217 litres (not over 300)

I agree with the choice of the i30 over the others did a test drive of the 1.8ltr Corolla hybrid this morning with my mother as she likes the updated look though even she thought it was a gutless slug she doesn't like the look of the PD i30's so that's off the cards as well.

They've got a year yet before they decide so Mazda's not worth looking at until the new model/shape next year, should be huge improvements to the interior look and ergonomics, outside look is supposed to have a much improved sportier look.

That's interesting about the Hybrid being gutless. They reckon they have modified the transmission to make initial takeoff better.

Doesn't matter what they do with the box Dazz, initial take off might be a little better than previous but being a hybrid it's heavy and only has 90kw's combined, the CVT also has the engine revving hard constantly.

Strange, because both my Hybrid's were awesome. Particularly the 2012. Quiet, responsive, economical. If it had looked a bit sexier and had more kit (like the latest one)  I would have kept it a lot longer.

Probably trying to make the new model even more economical is what has robbed it of power, fine if you only want to buzz around city shops all day but just doesn't cut it on the freeway.

I just took my car for a drive to pick up dinner for the family.  Still loving the SR   put a smile on my face everytime that turbo kick in.

Re: CVT, the Subaru Outback seem ok with that transmission.  I actually do not mind it at all, but then again that Subaru Outback is 129kW

Reading between the lines ( ) i suspect the fixed price doesn't get you a full logbook service. But I only base that on my experience with the local Toyota dealers fixed price services on second hand cars.

I also didn't test drive or even look at any other cars either, I usually find when making a large purchase that I am better doing the homework first and then settling on the most likely candidate.
Read heaps of reviews and looked at this site and found very little adverse comment and thought, yep, this will do.

Yeah, they have got good tech in the new model. As well as Auto Cruise I think they even have speed sign recognition and auto headlight dimming.

Yeah the LED headlights are a nice bonus, probably why the base price is 26k drive away, a little more than some other base prices in the same class though the features are good.

When you weigh up the included standard features it's a reasonable price, 3 year warranty is the only negative.

Yeah it's a slug alright you would think with the small boot they would have made the rear seats fold flat to make a more usable space though they weren't thinking there either I still like the 2ltr though

The new Hybrid Camry doesn't impress with initial acceleration either but I was impressed in other ways.  Forty percent of the new Camry sales in Australia are the Hybrid but don't expect the Corolla Hybrid to do that percentage.
