Can anyone tell me what the thing in the red circle is for?initially i thought it's some kind of vent hole but there's no air coming from there, and now i`m starting to think it may be a hole for bluetooth mic.Any ideas or it`s just a design thing with no purpose :).

I'm guessing a sensor for the temp control.

We discussed this before but couldn't reach a conclusion.

I'll see if I can find the thread...

I seriously believe it's for the temp control. My prelude has exactly the same thing.

in a nissan its for climate control... a duct runs there and thats how it tells what temp the cabin is at... so im going to assume its the same thing here... UNELSS the headlight buzzer is behind it....

here is the section from my maxima's service manual that describes what that vent is for...

COMPONENT DESCRIPTION
In-Vehicle Sensor
The in-vehicle sensor is located on instrument driver lower panel. It
converts variations in temperature of compartment air drawn from
the aspirator into a resistance value. It is then input into the unified
meter and A/C amp.

Aspirator
The aspirator is located on driver′s side of heater & cooling unit. It
produces vacuum pressure due to air discharged from the heater &
cooling unit, continuously taking compartment air in the aspirator

im pretty sure we just solved it... so to sum it all up for those not wanting to read that... it is a vent that lets air in so the climate conrtol can tell if the temperature is right... it also works with a sensor in the front grille (the one that displays on the radio) and the sunload sensor on the dash, to determin how hard the system has to work/not work!

LOL yes i know... but i just spent 5 min justifying my reply...

carib
Hi.

I'm not sure, and I can't test now, but I think that is the beeper. Of "belts off", for example.

Regards,

carib

  • Wirral, UK. - 1.4 Petrol Active - Aqua Blue
When the Korean workman was checking his tool box one day he found a little hole making gadget which makes nice little holes.

The couldn't work out where the hole should go as it wasn't on the blue print so he just punched a hole just out of sight on side of the dash.

He knew that owners would be looking for a reason for the hole but he knew there was no reason for it and it would become a talking point.

hey Ian,i think the climate control idea has been knocked on the head because that i30 is the same on the dash as our sx base model in oz. no climate control on our cars mate.  it could be a bad attempt at making the hard to hear turn signals easier to hear.

stolen from www.hmaservice.com

anyways after a massive stuff around, i found what it is

sign in, go to DTC tab, then "air conditioner" click on "B1233 in-car temperature sensor short (low)"

Componet Location

(obviously shows where the holes are that we are talking about)

General Description

Incar sensor is located at left side of DATC control panel. It contains a thermistor which measures the temperature of the inside. The signal, decided by the resistance value which changes in accordance with perceived inside temperature, is delivered to heater control unit. According to this signal, the control unit regulates incar temperature to intended value.
DTC Description

Air conditioner Control Module sets DTC B1233 if Incar temperature sensor has been detected below 0.1V for 0.3 seconds.
