Immobiliser coil antenna replacement

First time posting here, but used the forum regularly for advice.

I've an intermittent issue with the immobiliser not reading (key symbol flashing). I believe this is most likely due to the immobiliser antenna coil so I got a replacement (95401-2L300). My problem is that I was expecting this to come with a connector for me to clip into where the old one is, but it has come with the wires. Has anyone replaced this part before? How do you disassemble the connector to replace this part? Any help would be much appreciated!

looks like some generic unit. cut wires and solder new into old cct. have you measured the existing coil to check that it is open or short cct , or is this an intermittant issue?

Thanks for the reply. It's an intermittent issue. Was hoping to avoid cutting the wires, but think it might come down to that.

The new coil leads are terminated with the crimp inserts that snap into the plastic plug. They usually have a barb on them that locks the crimp into the plug. It may be possible to remove the existing wire from the plug by pressing down on the barb so that it can be pulled out of the plug, maybe by using a scalpel or a very small screwdriver. If you can get the old wires out of the plug without damaging the moulding the new inserts should just push in and snap into place. Failing that, you'll just have to cut the old wires off and splice them to the new coil by soldering or use a butt splice crimp.

Those ends are definitely terminated for insertion into the plug you have.

Had similar issue with missus 2007 1.6 Getz with intermittent immobilizer fault. The method that BrendanP suggests it is doable. However, my new coil did not solve my problem of Getz not starting, so I cut plug off and soldered the wires together under recommendation from an auto sparkie. The bulky plug and connections have a high resistance for sensitivity/millivolts required. This may possibly be similar issue on your i30

As an update I managed to pry out the end of the wires from the plug with a small nail that I'd hammered flat to release the plastic clip that was holding it in. Following the manual I took off the air bag, steering wheel, rotation sensor only to realise that I could remove the wiper stalks without doing any of that. Finally got the immobiliser coil changed and the car still starts so that's a plus. Will monitor now and see if that sorts the intermittent immobiliser issues. Thanks everyone for the suggestions.
