Hey guys! Just wanna know if it’s normal for my car to be taking longer to speed up when idling at lights like I feel like it’s restricting and not the full performance it should be?
I’ve driven my friends 2018 i30 1.6 litre and it takes off a lot faster then my car even tho the engines are the same?
Thanks a lot!

Is your aircon on? that's the only thing which makes mine a little more sluggish.

Your friends 2018 1.6 model also has a turbo which we don't have :(

Is there anything I can do to make the car take off faster that won’t cost me an arm and a leg? Could me having a pod filter installed be making it slower?

It’s actually not a turbo
If it's not a turbo then it's not a 1.6ltr, must be 2ltr if it's petrol.

Wheres the pod getting air from, if inside the engine bay then yes it will suck hot air off the engine which will affect idle and slow speed driving.

The pod filter fits inside the stock air box but isn’t covered so some hot air will most likely be getting in, I wanted to get a proper box installed but I don’t know where to get one from and how to install them

Unless the box is sealed then yeah you'll be sucking in hot air.

You can get some hints of what I did to modify the intake on mine just using a K&N panel filter and some flex ducting :link: Air intake revisited

In Australia the 2018 PD is only available as a 2.0 naturally aspirated motor or1.6T.

My wife's 2014 1.6  manual tourer was a bit slow to take off at roundabouts and stuff, we partly blamed the hill start assist as it felt like the brakes just grabbed a bit prior to takeoff at times. She's since upgraded to a turbo Kona. No issues with slow takeoff now.  :honk:

Is it slower than normal, or are you comparing 2013 with 2018.
Check 1st and final drive ratios in the book as well.
Lower ratios =quicker off the mark.
