Title: Upgrade i30 frontgrill and rearlights
Post by: ilovei30 on April 19, 2018, 13:17:05
Hi all users!  :victory:

I am a new member, me and my wife are absolutely in love with the i30, and are looking to buy a 2015 edition in the future. Now, I am not to keen on this front grill and these rearlights (these are the ones we get on an i30 that we can afford).

We would love to upgrade to this front grill and these rearlights, once we have purchased an i30.  :whistler:

I assume that I can purchase the parts, If so, are the mounts and meassures the same? Are they simply replacable? I figure they should be without too much trouble.

If anyone could link the parts I need, I would be forever thankfull.  :goodjob2:
I can't make heads or tails of what parts I need to buy for the grill, the rearlights should be simpler.
The rearlights for instance, are divided, as one part is on the chassi and the other on the reardoor to the trunk, and I have only found the LED-lights for the chassi part.

Can someone please help us?

Very truly yours,

EDIT: I found another user linking to this korean website, where you can buy a painted grill (that fit and are mounted easily) but that set you back 280 dollar. :P
Link to the korean website with the grill (http://www.sharkracing.com/exterior-57/?sort=featured&page=2)

But i still havent find any good solution on the rear lights, only used chassi-rearlights, no inner ones at all.. :/

Welcome ilovei30, the tail lights (4pcs) can be found on the Shark Racing website  :link: 2012-2017 i30-Elantra GT Factory OEM LED Tail Lights - Shark Racing (http://www.sharkracing.com/2012-2014-i30-elantra-gt-factory-oem-led-tail-lights/)

Concerning the grill, you might need a new front foam impact bar to suit or possibly you might be able to cut your one down to the correct shape and size, cutting my original impact foam down didn't work very well so I had to purchase the matching impact foam through Hyundai.

Also! dont install the new grill without any foam bar as Shark Racing suggests doing, the extra wieght of the new grill will cause the nose cone to drop without any support

You'll also require the license plate mount.

Hi CraigB,

Thank you very much for your reply, ok I understand, good things to think about concerning the front grill.
Your car is awesome btw!

I am sorry if I were unclear, I am looking for the rear lights to an i30 estate (the large one), those in the link are for the hatchback, yes?

Very truly yours,

Patrick

Well i find the chassiparts (left and right) on various sites, including a car sparparts site right here in Sweden, that lists parts for sale from garages and vendors all over the country, but no LED lights for the hatch ...

Maybe they cant be removed on the tourer? It is truly sad, in my opinion those lights make the car truly beautiful.

Any one?

You'll probably find the rear side light modules on the Tourer are the same as the hatch models which is why there are plenty of them about, LED's appear to be quite rare on the Euro builds (Tourer and 3dr) and none came with them in Australia, was just lucky for me the 5dr and 3dr fit the same lights.

The tailgate lenses can be removed in the same way as the hatch.

Thank you so much for all your help!

I have contacted Hyundai in Sweden, or a local retailer to be more exakt, they have to be able to get them, i Mean what happens if they broke naturally or from an accident? We'll see what they say.

About the front grill, I have no understanding of how this foam support are constructed or how it is holding up the grill, as I have never owned an i30. You have experience doing the grill replacement, would you be able to look for a fitting part that could aid me when the time comes to replace the grill (if i don't buy a version of the i30 with a grill that i like).

I would be ever so thankfull.

EDIT: are the foam necesarry, could brackets, bolts and nuts do the trick?

Very truly yours,

One of my older posts shows what the impact foam looks like in reply 87  :link: New 2015 Grill (https://www.i30ownersclub.com/forum/index.php?topic=34719.msg369854) I couldn't guarantee that the same part would fit yours though, with a different shape nose the front bar could be different as well :undecided:

You could possibly make brackets for the grill if needed, that might void your insurance though in a accident  :undecided: I'd suggest using the correct part in case.

Title: Re: Upgrade i30 frontgrill and rearlights SOLVED
Post by: ilovei30 on April 20, 2018, 17:02:13
:: UPDATE / SOLVED ::

:: GRILL  ::
Craig have supplied me with info and partnumber required to install a new grill (can be bought from the website in the links above).

::  REAR LIGHTS ::
I have called a local retailer of Hyundai in Sweden  :phone1:, they directed me to their spareparts division, and as I thought I could buy rear lights (LED) through them. It is expensive though, the inner ones (on the tail gate) are 200 EUR each, and the outer are 380 EUR each. Adding up to approx 1160 EUR.  :rofl:

If i ever buy the rear lights (LED) in the future, i'll make sure to buy the outer ones via a site delegating ads for used car parts where garages and scrapyards can put up their ads, and then buy the inner ones through Hyundai.  :head_knock:

That would cost approx. 650 EUR, shipping in Sweden included.

Thank you for all your help Craig.

You're welcome :hatoff:
The tail lights through Hyundai are very expensive, 1160 EUR is just over $1800 AU which is dearer than the $1470 Hyundai quoted me :eek:

I think it was KMPTRADE I ended up purchasing mine through, about $500 or $600 they were at the time.

So a reasonably small hit up rear could make a write-off.
