Might need to put a link to this in Technical Data or somewhere later, but this is pretty nifty!  :happydance:

      Caloundra, Queensland.
They showed us this at the launch. Impressive.

IIRC it also (or will) show most of the fault codes you'd get from a scan.

In the future, legalities permitting, it will transfer any fault codes to the dealer or HAMC.

I was thinking of getting a Bluetooth dongle for the Calais at one stage. I reckon this is a great alternative!  :goodjob:

You might not have to wait long - just get yourself a $5 bluetooth dongle

If someone in Oz could grab the .apk and make it available I'll give it a try (can't see the app on Google Play here).

That's a user guide. I'm after the Android AutoLink App. The BlueLink App requires a subscription and doesn't seem to be the same (close, but no cigar).

Thanks, but I'm after the physical .apk (it won't GP-install on anything I own) :(

I got sent an sms with a link, first time I tried to install it , it couldn't find the vin number and wanted it manually typed in. Second time I tried installed fine .

Be aware tho for it to work, it wants blue tooth enables but also an Internet connection, I had to enable data, but I think I could do it at home via wifi tho.

Haven't really looked at that more since.

Can you program it to tell you when the wife is abusing the car?

Provided you leave your phone in the car while she is driving it so that it can record the data, YES.
For each trip, it stores/displays in the history:
1. starting time and location on a map.
2. route taken as line on a map (zoom-able).
3. route driven within speed limit is shown as blue.
4. route driven above speed limit is shown as red.
5. number of "heavy" accelleration events for that trip.
6. number of "heavy" breaking events for that trip.
7. average fuel consumption for that trip in L/100KM.
8. total fuel used for that trip in L

My new Citigo/Wii/Up (all the same car with three different badges) has this feature and I love it...  I have not really used my beloved Garmin Sat Nav since the move.

I get in the car, attach my iPhone 8 plus to its placeholder and voila everything in one place.

This series of the car was originally designed with a placeholder for a Navigon but by the time my model hit the shelves they'd moved onto this system.  Initially, I felt cheated not having a dedicated  Sat Nav but as the weeks rolled into months I now loved the multimedia approach utilising my smartphone.

Also,  when I stop and remove the key it pings and flashes a message on the car's screen 'Don't forget your phone"

They must have known I was gonna be a user Duuuhhhhh :-)

Get it sorted Dazz, you'll love it too I am sure.

@asathorny

Sounds like you are confused Asa. But that's allowed at your impressive age.

You appear to be talking about Android Auto  which i have already embraced in several other threads. Like you I am now quite a fan.

This thread is about a free dongle and app for monitoring your cars vital statistics.

I did say iPhone Dazz !!!!!   Android  :faint: :faint: :faint: :faint:

I am speaking about a phone app which does it all, just like the one you showed.  I get limited OBD11 displayed and can easily change between Sat Nav, OBD11 and other features using this app.

My car might be tiny, but, it's tiny top of the line Dazz  :goodjob: :goodjob: :goodjob:

Oh. Fairy nuff Asa. I'm pretty happy with my Android S8 now I have the right apps on it. :victory:
