I have bought a new 136bhp DCT-7 SW.  My previous two cars were Renault Laguna coupés with 2 litre 150 bhp diesels.  I used an external German tuning box which made a noticeable positive difference to power, torque and fuel efficiency.

I will be in Germany next month and one of the large tuning companies have quoted my an increase of 20 PS (roughly 19 bhp) and 35 Nm of torque.  This will be an external box so will not require changes to the ECU.  Cost will be €400.

Anybody had any experience of these boxes on Hyundais?

I guess you're talking about RaceChip :link: Performance chips ? Chip tuning by RaceChip

They're a well known company that several members on the forum have used before though I haven't read or heard of anyone using a chip in the PD models yet, you can be the first and tell everyone else about it :)

Maybe not Racechip as your quoted power levels and price are no where near what's achievable with Racechip :link: Chip tuning Hyundai I30 (pd) 1.6 CRDi | From Racechip

I fitted a Racechip box on my 2008 i30 CRDi but after 10.000 km it f****ed up the DPF.  :disapp:

Sounds like some of the files needed a re-write, too much fuel being dumped or the DPF wasn't doing it's burn :disapp:

Why dont you just buy a box from ebay for 50 Euro?

99% of the boxes cheats the ECU to believe fuelpressure is lower on the common-rail than it actually is, so ECU asks the high pressure pump to raise the pressure...& hey presto, you got your 20 BHP extra...But NO increased economy as the computer has been chated by a faulse pressure-signal & its this way it calculates the Km/L / L/100Km/MPG...I have formerly used this type of boxes on many different cars & never noticed whether i paid 400 Euro (like i did on the first box back in 2002) or 45 Euro like i did on the last one for my ALfa 159 2.4 Diesel.
