I had the front  passengers side window refuse to go down last year, fixed under warranty. Apparently the motor was replaced. Now the drivers side motor window also refuses to go down. I can hear a clicking noise inside the door on operating the switch, and that's it. Same symptoms as the previous fault.

Is this common? Strikes me as either a known defect if it happens frequently and therefore should be a thing the manufacturer sorts out at their cost - or extremely unlucky which I find hard to believe. Cost to repair was quoted as $400-500.

Any ideas on whats going on here??

@tw2005 Gerard has spoken quite a bit about window issues in the FD but not sure if the GD is the same.

Kinda interesting, so motor clicks no movement. Window is not sticking and motor tripping on over current? If it's just out of wty, why not have a crack and and state the left has already failed. See if the consumer laws help otherwise if you can handle a screwdriver and a 10mm socket, remove the trim , get either a used one or new from somewhere and replcae it your self.

$400-500, they can get ..............................

At $494 both he and I thought it unreasonable. The mechanic recommended an Auto Electrician somewhere in West End Brisbane who repaired the faulty unit. It took 3 days by courier and the repaired unit was back and re-fitted in Bundaberg. The total cost was $150, much better than the $494 plus $35 labor for my mechanic had I fitted a new switch. I have found the cost of new parts for my FD to be a bit over the top.

Good result (wreckers might have been another option, but maybe no cheaper and always unknown quality)

Car was serviced today and sure enough the switch was diagnosed as open circuit, lets just say $500-00 to repair. Could you please forward me your recommendation and I'll get it done there. Many thanks.
