Hi everyone. I own a 2010 1.4 i30 and have noticed the oil depleting over the past few months. Looking into and under the engine bay there looks to be oil in lots of spots unless I have mistaken it for something else?
What part of the car is that in picture 8 behind the engine? There has been a lot of heat coming from it and when driving in hot weather or when its raining I can see steam or smoke through the windshield. I also get a smell through the air con of what could be oil burning.

Yep, looks like you might have a leak.
Oil burning and smell likely from oil on the exhaust, time to go visit the mechanic I thinks.

Garage has discovered it to be a head gasket issue and replaced the rubber seal. Something I probably could have done myself but was happy to drop it into these guys.
Fingers crossed this is the fault :p

Head gasket is not a rubber seal. It is usually hard material, often partially metal (flame rings). Head gasket change is quite a big job. Often requires special tools, new head bolts etc. Could it have been valve cover gasket? Those are usually rubber.
Good thing you got the leak fixed. :goodjob:

Rocher Cover Gasket is what they changed.
Still signs of oil leaking by the looks :(
