Hi guys I have a 2008 i30
Lately when in reverse the beep of death comes on, a constant beep
Now I know probably one of the sensors has gone
Should I buy 3 or is the a way just getting one and just try one if it doesn’t work and then try the 2nd one and 3rd
Any help please
Dean

Hi Dean,
I haven't heard of the beep of death! You've only got 3 sensors? I thought there were usually 4. Are yours colour coded? Pain if you have to spray a replacement. I'd be checking connections and stuff first. You haven't recently installed a tow bar or bike rack or anything that could be tricking the sensor?

Probably a silly question, are they are nice and clean ? Daughters i30 beeped constantly in reverse and a good clean of the sensors fixed it.

Both good points. I thought it was 4. Won't know for sure until I get to read the manual but I believe it can send a series of beeps to indicate which sensor is faulty. Constant beep I don't think that is one. Usually means that you are about to hit something

My 2008 FD only had three sensor points.
I'd suggest at least one of them has become detached from its cover and fallen back into the bumper - it's been reported on here before.

I'm sure there are multiple reports within the club, but here's a couple I just found (slightly related, but meh)

Yep, you were correct at 3 sensors.
checks the system condition.
If no trouble, it generates buzzer alarm sound for 0.3 seconds after 0.8 seconds from power approval. In case of system failure, then it indicates the failed point as follows.
A. Left sensor failure : beep - beep - beep
B. Center sensor failure : beep beep - beep beep - beep beep
C. Right sensor failure: beep beep beep - beep beep beep - beep beep beep

Perhaps there is a dead short in the wiring, to or in, one of the sensors.
Can you disconnect them from the control box, one by one, to isolate the offender.

If that fails, try this and flush that offender out

They make our new roads with potholes here.

Sure sounds like it! Or it shook a bit of grit off the sensor. I would still give them a good wipe with a damp cloth and try and get your hand in behind and try and push the connectors securely home.
