Hi all,

I am new here.  I just took delivery of a brand new 2015 i30 SR premium 4 days ago.  Yesterday, I turned on the cooled (ventilated) front seats and cool air was coming out of the seat and cooling it down really well.  Today, when I turned on the same function, the seats starting getting warm instead (the seats seem to heat up instead of cooling down).  The fans in the seats are turning on as normal as I can hear them whirring.  I tried all different functions of the cooling button, but the seats are definitely warming up and NOT cooling down.

Questions:

1) Has anyone experienced their ventilated (cooled) front seats breaking down?
2) What could be the problem here?

Any help or advise for a newbie would be much appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Andrew

Thanks craigB. Will do.  Anyone else have input on what could cause the cooling to heat up instead of cooling? Anyone with technical knowledge?

My Mum has an 'Elite' (NZ market equivalent of a Premium - not sure they have Premium SR equivalent 'natively') - she got startled by the HEATED electric seats... she had forgotten about the feature and somehow knocked the switch at the beginning of a road-trip.  Her discovery of them was a separate (and funny) story.

So I would be checking for something like that... I suspect some similar is probably fitted in your i30.

I don't have technical knowledge on how the SR Premium seats work - but I am assuming they will have electric heating elements in them (per Mum's car) being that usually (even in vehicles with A/C) heating in cars are done by such (being faster and more effective - possibly much cheaper than making one that fits in a car - than a heat-pump esp. in colder temps).   Course, like always, I could be completely off base.

 :welcum: nangers,

Very little discussion on here about that function. Understandable, I guess being that it is a newish feature and limited in availability. Our resident tech, Cruiserfied may see this and comment, but I doubt even he will have experienced that fault. Weird that it worked correctly one day and not the next! I might do a google as other Hyundai's like the i40 have had that feature for a while.

Plenty on the web about the feature in various Hyundai models but no mention of problems from a quick search.  :undecided:

This may sound silly and/or condescending, it is in NO WAY meant to be the latter, but...

Please post what the resolution is when you have it sorted whatever the reason - any number of times we never hear back.  Then much later someone asks the same question...  and otherwise we are generally a curious bunch.

Anyway I hope it is a quick and easy issue to resolve - being such a new vehicle.

Apart from all that....   :wlcome02: Andrew

I've been told that I have a hot arse, so I'm not sure I would have actually noticed that fault anyway.
I hope someone on here can help you more specifically.
