I can't get your images to load but it sounds like you had a nice scenic trip! 12 miles is quite a bit though. I certainly wouldn't attempt it without some deep thought

Today was a bit of a rough day work-wise - I got home pretty late and had to skip lunch so as to get some pedal hours in before it got dark, I slurped some yogurt as soon as I got home and went off to cycle. I got to the end of the driveway when I heard a faint hissing sound - yup, puncture. I slammed another 100ml of sealant into the tyre, gave it 3 bar of the finest South African air and off I went.

I got about 5km into the journey and then the cramps set in - from me not eating all day and suddenly hitting my body with all this strenuous exercise. The latter half of my ride was a lot slower, and slightly more painful than I had wanted it to be

Made it home and swore to never again skip lunch, no matter the circumstances

Took train to Garswood near Wigan, then cycled along the Leeds Liverpool canal to Burscough.
Train back home from Ormskirk.
Covered some 25 miles in total.

I had a conference at a location much closer to home than where I normally work, so I decided to leave my i30 at home and take the bike the 26km. 20km of them is on an old train track that's been paved over and converted into a 95km asphalt bike trail. No cars, very few intersections and very pretty views.

Totaled 2x26km or 52km today, the most I have ever done in a single day, I averaged 24kph, 320m of accent and decent, very pleased with myself - but I'm expecting my knees to hurt like hell tomorrow, but boy was it worth it!
My previous record was 2x18km, but my old bike had 21 gears and I was 24 and I rode my bike everywhere. My new(4y old...) bike is a fixie, which makes for a really nice ride, no sprocket noise or ticking freewheel, just the tires running making a low humming sound, very relaxing especially when you're spoiled having nature and a track like this right outside your doorstep. I just wish I did not have 75km to work over a bloody mountain pass...

Trip there in the morning ended with a swim and change into suitable clothes, only stopped for pictures once as I had a time to make.





Return trip when the sun was high, stopped for a few pictures here and there. Mostly to show off whats around the corner from of where I live (A pub down in the village would be swell though).

Started at Northwich and followed the River Weaver to Frodsham.
Returned along the Trent and Mersey canal.

Must admit I have not been fishing for years for the same reason, but the scenery, rivers & lakes in your photos just brings back memories of when I was young and lazy and used to enjoy fishing.
