Title: Door lock diagnosis
Post by: SkidsMagoo on May 29, 2022, 08:59:18
G’day all, first time registered, long time lurker.

I’ve been doing little repairs on my parents I30, most have been easy fixes but I’ve got an issue which I’m trying to diagnose and couldn’t find an exact match in the search.
My parents don’t have a remote and operate the central locking with a key, I’ve had to repair both doors on the passenger side but now when you turn the key only they drivers door opens. I’m assuming there’s no electrical signal coming from the drivers door and am hoping to find a relay or module inside the car. From there I could chuck the multimeter in and turn the lock with the key from the outside and see if here’s a signal.

Is there a smarter way to work out if the drivers door actuator is busted?

Thanks in advance, Skids

Hey, Skids, you haven't said which model.
Opening the driver's door and having the central locking open the rest sounds normal to me.
To my thinking, the mechanical is clearly working for the driver's door and it should be sending a voltage back to let the module know to unlock the rest.
Start looking for that, which should be the same signal as pressing the unlock button inside the cabin.

Hey Gonz
I didn’t post the model because I thought that’s what our signatures are for :)
So it seema that I was sorta on the right track and need to find where the signal is going, I reckon I might pull the fuse and start testing from that point, right after I search the site for an FD wiring diagram.
Thanks for the response

I must have been looking at your post on a device with a limited view at the time. I can see it in the laptop's browser.

Good luck with it.
