Hello everyone,

I have a i30 Fastback 2019 1.0 TGDI petrol 120Hp.

I did a long drive yesterday, Approximately 800 kms. I can see I have issue with the clutch. It feels completely loose for first 50% of the push.  After that, even when I press full 100% of the clutch I feel the gear shift is super hard (sometimes almost impossible).

I went to a local mechanic, he asked me to pump the clutch pedal rapidly to make the gearshift smoother (which actually worked) but again every few minutes later I have to pump it to shift the gears smoothly. So it definitely is a temporary solution.


Any suggestions?

clutch fluid level the same?
Checked for leaks from master or slave cylinders?

Sounds like you have leak somewhere. As said, better to check fluid level. Fluid leak or air in the clutch system may cause issues you described. If no leak or fluid loss, then you might want to check clutch damper valve.

Isn’t clutch fluid same as break fluid? DOT3/4 thingy? If so.. No the fluid level is at Max. No leak.
If not, how can I check clutch fluid level?

I do suspect air in the system. Anyway I can take the air out myself?

there should be a bleed nipple at the slave cylinder, you could try bleeding it . Same method as bleeding brakes, either a 2 man job or you get one of those bleed kits from the parts store.

But even so it does beg the question how air got into the system. Usually it is from a worn seal in the master or slave cylinder, which would need replacing or the same issue will return.
