I'm looking to install the auto-light feature into my GF's 2012 i30. I'd like her to run the DLR's that are on the car, but she's not used to switching on the headlights at dusk because in her Volvo she always drove with the head (and taillights for that matter) turned on in the day.

I came across this OEM kit on eBay (attached). Now the question is: how about the wiring? The kit doesn't include wiring, so do I need to purchase the right wiring seperately, or is the wiring already there?

Don't know of anyone else on the site who has done this. Hope it is but not sure who will know. Is it a series 1 (FD) or Series 2 (GD) as both were built in 2012.

Is that the light sensor in the 2nd photo? My FD's light sensor was circular.

Oh yes, you're right. It's a GD. Unfortunately, I came across a few threads on hyundai-forums.com yesterday in which people tried to do exactly the same, but failed. As it turns out, part of the wiring is missing for the sensor to work (only two wires run to the fake sensor, whereas the real one needs 8 wires). If I can find a minute I'll pop the fake sensor out to see if it by accident has 8 wires, but I don't hold my hopes up. I was able to cancel the order for the parts in time, but I'm disappointed that this feature is not going to happen on this car.

In the GD this is indeed the shape of the sensor. If the car doesn't have the Auto Light feature, then there's a blinking LED in the fake sensor that's supposed to scare off the baddies.

Ahh. I wasn't sure which variety of i30 you had (maybe you could update your profile?) :D
