Hello again,
Well another question, this time my 2016 i30 Tourer S...
I would like to put a roof rack on it. I have rung the local hyundai dealer and the answer was "erm dunno. can't do that".

As everyone else is probably aware this doesn't come with roof rails. It has a black strip down each side of the roof. It doesn't have any sliding hatches in, so that I can open something to then attach a roof rack.

It looks like that strip might pull off, but it seems pretty solid.
So, has anyone fitted a roof rack to one of these before? I was hoping that I might be able to do something like, take those strips off and then put on one from a higher spec model, which would then allow me to fit a roofrack. Is tha even plausible?

I'm not sure if it's related but there are four hatches on the inside roof of the car, two on each side.

Are they any use for this and if not what are they?
Thanks, Jon.

Im guessing the inside hatches are for attaching internal cargo nets etc.
It should be possible to buy a side mounted roof rack, that mounts ”behind” the doors. check the big rack companies like thule, they usually have guides.

Looks like you need to have a similar setup to this:

Thanks folks.
I think the Thule kit is what I'm after.
I was starting to think I'd have a massive car shaped headache there.

Hello,
Well the 1478 fixing pack doesn’t fit on the car. The pads don’t firmly sit on the car and the measurements in the 8nsturctions are way off. I’ve email Thule to find out what’s going on, but I thought I’d ask here because someone may have already been through this pain. To reiterate, the car doesn’t have the fixed point holdings or the flush roof rail.

Has anyone experience this already?

Thanks
