Title: HOW TO ADD CRUISE CONTROL TO 2013 i30
Post by: socas on May 10, 2017, 17:55:03
Hello Dear group members,

I’ve bought my second Hyundai which is 2013 i30cw 1.6CRDI model and I’ve found that it doesn’t have cruise control.

I’m planing to add cruise control buttons which I’ve found on ebay.

:link: 2013 2014 2015 2016 Hyundai i30 Elantra GT OEM Audio Auto Cruise Retrofit Kit | eBay (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2013-2014-2015-2016-Hyundai-i30-Elantra-GT-OEM-Audio-Auto-Cruise-Retrofit-Kit-/271977176485?hash=item3f531a5da5:g:SLgAAOSwYHxWJdWg)

Does anyone already tested this way of adding cc?
What if I would change my steering wheel to the one with cruise control? Will it work?

 :welcum: socas,

Gee I'm surprised if that is all that is needed. Seems like a bargain if it is. Did you read the instructions further down about the Czech built models? It is certainly possible that fitting the steering wheel with module attached would also work but might be dearer to source than this part?

Unfortunately you might find it hard to get answers from many of our members because in Australia (for example) almost everything including all 2nd Generation i30's come with cruise as standard on all models.

But give it time as other Euro based members may know.  :goodjob:

I bought the buttons too. My car is exactly like yours. Came without cruise control and bluetooth.
Apparently, the clock spring from the Chech built cars have all wires for connecting the extra buttons. I am very curious how will be.
I will let you know the result...please do the same if you succeeded something!
All the best!
Eugen

Done!
The buttons arrived with the wiring for heated steering wheel. Except the obvious extra 4 wires and a plug for the heating and the plug to the clock spring, all fitted well.
I removed the old wiring plug and fitted in the new wiring pins. Took some time till i managed to measure, and refit all the pins in right position, but....is working.
With ignition on, i have all the old controls active and , iff i press the cruise button, the dash cruise light illuminates...all good apparently. Didin't proper test yet
Drinked few beers during conversion lol
I will let you know the result tomorrow.
I still wait the bluetooth navi system to arrive to check also the phone buttons...
I will let you know in the other thread.
Iff somebody need the wiring changes i made..please let me know...
I have done a small drawing..
All the best!

Great news!!!

Thank you for all the information you've shared! I think it will be useful for many i30 GD owners.

My i30 is still in repairing process cause I bought it damaged but hope to add CC soon :)

Did you bought buttons and wiring from the same seller on ebay like in the link I've shared in my first post?

Hello everybody, I just registered to ask if @kamikazeeugen can kindly provide me some steps to follow in order to install the cruise control module by myself on my 2013 i30. I also ordered the wiring for the heated steering wheel while my car doesn't have that option.

Thank you very much for your help!

Goodluck!

Hi Socas!
Not the same seller... but all looks the same!
I receive'd the original mobis units! I think all are the same!
The only difference is at the surround colour. Mine were silver and ordered black... not a problem really, but for some others will love to match the doors pannels and dash colour. Not for me though as anyhow that silver started to peel off and become black..
Regards!
Eugen

Hi! So....The biggest job was removing the pins from the plugs. The old plug is needed intact. I have destroyed the new plug as was not needed. just to remove the pins without destroy them. The pins are fixed in plugs with a key. This key needs to be lifted a little, don't try to remove completely as is not coming out with the pins in. Just lift the key till stops then gently pull the pins out. Discard the wires for the headed steering wheel, the 2 big ones and the temperature sensor ones, actually, all other wires except those noted further are not needed.
Fitting is pretty straight forward, the pins have 1 extension wich is locked in place by the key so insert the pins in right direction!
Now, the pins location.
Iff we consider the pin nr1 the big black wire for the horn, then:
pin nr2 is the blue one
pin nr3 is orange
pin nr4 is yellow
pin nr5 is the small black
pin nr6 is not used
pin nr7 is black with white stripe
pin 8 and 9 not used
pin nr10 is white with red stripe
pin nr11 is green
pin nr12 not used
From the previous pictures you can see the plug with the wires in.
The white plugs are for the left side of the steering with audio and phone controls and the black plugs are for the right side of steering with cruise control and power steering setting.
Hope this helps!
All the best!
Eugen

If you replace the steering wheel with one that already has the buttons, do you need additional wires?

Just replaced mine with a korean market version...Dont know if plug is same for 2013, mine looks wider, but i couldnt get the pins out of the connector & just cut and soldered them into correct position them instead. (wiring-harness was with right connector & heated wheel as mine got, but as an example, horn was opposite row as to where EU-made I30´s got wire for it, so quite a track/trace job :-)

92 Euro DIY compared to 1008! Euro...Thats considered quite a good bargain here for 5 hours of measurement & soldering ;-)
