Hi All,

Just noticed a little clutch slip today ... will be in need of a clutch soon. Has done 280,000km so reasonably happy with the life. Wondering if anyone has recommendations on which brand to go for. I am leaning towards either original or Exedy which is available. Am in NZ so suspect what is available in Australia will be available here.

I can't help with your question but we have three stellar technical advisors and some other suspects that hopefully can.

Looks like OEM is Valeo. One would think Exedy would be a good choice, I think they're OEM in a few Jap cars like Mitsubishi.

Best place to check the part numbers would be the dealer using VIN but these are 2008, 5 speed, RHD, Aust market.

Threw some extras like the fork and pivot. With 280 000K , may have a bit of wear. Like anything if going in there, other things worth considering would be rear crank main seal too.

One question I can't answer is if it has a Dual Mass Flywheel.

Input shaft is one piece front to back. Support comes from the two bearings at each end of box.

Yes, definitely planning on replacing throw-out bearing. Asked a clutch specialist about the flywheel when I was around 110,000 km. He said solid, not dual mass. I'm happy about that.

Hi All,

New clutch is in. Was at 290,000km when I took it in to have it replaced.

Genuine clutch kit unavailable in NZ ... one week to supply from Austrailia so went with Exedy. Is fine. Clutch pedal now very light and bite point about 2/3 up pedal travel. I had modified my clutch hydraulic system earlier which raised the bite point. And also makes for a sharper engagement which is just perfect for high speed getaways 

Anway, the clutch plate was not completely worn out. The throw-out bearing certainly was. All of the plastic on the inside of the throw-out bearing bore was gone. Apparently, plastic is used so now grease isn't required. But it does wear obviously.

Can confirm one piece flywheel. Had it machined although it looked fine.

This is the third replacement item in 290,000 km (apart from tyres). The first was a front set of brake pads at 190,000 km. Rear ones are still OK. Battery at 8 years as well.

I do oil and filter changes every 10,000km, fuel filter changes every 30,000km,  have brake fluid changes every 3 years and coolant changes every 3 years. Thinking about doing drive belts although they look fine.

Am impressed with the car. Don't like the look of the GD but do like the PD. Another few hundred thousand km and may consider an upgrade.
