Parked up Mr's petrol GD while we were away, disconnected the battery.
Returned 2-months later, reconnected battery but ever since the DTE is way out.
Thought it might learn after a few tank fills but it hasn't got any smarter.
She used to show 800 to 830 at a fill, now it's 600.
Was showing 3-bars yesterday but only 88k DTE ???? then the yellow fuel light came on. Filled it up, took 40L to have fuel overflowing.
Thought they had a 50L tank so there would have been at least 10L left which would make the 3-bars correct.
The economy gauge is reading OK at around 5 to 6 L per 100, just the DTE has lost the plot.

Could be the fuel sender unit in the tank. Is the i30 still under warranty?  Edit just realised you are talking about DTE not fuel gauge. :neutral:

Mine used to show 1100 before a year's storage while we were overseas. It now goes to less than 700. :disapp:

No warranty.
The DTE used to be the only item that was fairly accurate, all the rest were pure fiction. Never saw worse that 4.9L per 100, what a story !!!!
The 800-830 DTE was pretty close considering our driving conditions.
Seems they don't take kindly to being disconnected for long durations.
Ah well can live without that info, fuel gauge still seems OK.

Are you serious? Is that with a reset,  straight highway run of more than 1100K and a refill? :matrix:

I've achieved over 1100k once and I've never seen DTE go that high. Maybe high 700 to just over 800.

I know it recalibrates anyway in the my FD when it has a nonsense figure for DTE when clearly there's plenty of fuel left

It's a funny feeling driving Mel - Adl with fuel to spare. I think I got the auto down to 5.1 avg, showed 4.9 at one stage. That's doing a reset after a fill and straight onto the HWY.

The old Commodore always needed a refuel stop somewhere along the way, which was annoying because I didn't. Now I do the runs non-stop with two week's worth of city Diesel to spare. :happydance:

There was a short period when the commodore was my hero car, (Brock) VK 1985 black motor. After tasting some Jap engineering I never felt that way again :snigger:

thank god it was not this Blue motor missing 2 pots  :wacko:

I think up to about VC , maybe early VH they had that. I remember a wagon with one, gawd awfully gutless.

The Sunbird would have been an awesome car with a 308. We had one of the last UC with an opel before "STARFIRE" EVen more incredible was Toyota engine shared that dog in a Corona  :whistler:
