Yeah, real funny for the Queenslanders, thanks. Always had a long weekend for my birthday but thanks to the QLD pollies. No more. moved to Oct I think.

Thanks Mick, But doesn't make much difference to us retirees...

Just had two days cruising around with Club Member CraigB and his partner as part of their Tassie trip (Craig is from WA) and have a long term (but currently inactive) NSW member and his wife visiting next Wednesday.

My late Mum's Birthday was the 13th June, so the Queen's Birthday weekend reminded me when it was her Birthday.

Speaking of retired, I was officially terminated unfit for any work in early May.

Of course, Newman tried to bring us into line with the other states on this.
But the Labor Party would have none of it and as soon as Anna2 got into power she reversed the decision.
I still don't understand how come the Qld Union movement was so against having Labour Day in October. I appreciate the link to May Day/ Labour Day but it would seem the other states have been happy to live with it forever.

Well being retired, it's one big holiday. And to a small sleepy town on coast, like i live in ( i think, been in Sydney too long miss home!!) Any holiday weejkend the locals think it turnsinto a mad houss

. I tell them i'm still used to Sydney this is easy! Will be glad to get home!!
I did not know queensland changed the Queensbirthday i hope her magesty don't mind? I sung god save the Queen every day at school.
Well it's a weekend worth cellibrating for me, as i got my second cochlear implant and every electrode is picking up a signal ( the surgeon tests that while you are in surgery ) my surgeon the best at what she does gave me two perfect implants, can't ask for more!! Stereo sound bring it on!!

On another note, among other thing's Queenslander's hold dear ( close to there hearts ) is the fact that little bridge over the creek they have is the largest all Australian steel bridge in Australia. As the Sydney harbour bridge imported from England.
Also Queensland like En Zed, like to knock off the tall poppy's, En Zed have Union, Queensland have League.
Victoria have Aussie Rules.
NSW are not a one horse state, we did not just win number one state of Origin, we killed them!! And on there home turf with a screaming ring of Queenslander's. We also have a young team of Sydney lads from Western Suburbs, called the Giants at the top of the Aussie rules ladder.
So the southern to west aussies can't wave off our great victory. We are leading them too!!
But the second game i'd expect they will be proped up with there better players so will be good to watch, but if we win third game tgey won't even turn up to watch so think the leage boss's will want QLD to win could be fixed?

The Giants ?!!, come on mate, what about the Swans ? , even though they lost the first 6 games I reckon they've still got a great chance of making the final 8 . Cheer, Cheer the Red and the White !!
NRL -dont care about it, but QLD have smashed NSW something shocking for ages.

We all want everything free and a holiday for evefything to boot!!
So any excuse what polly would be game to cross our Queens bd off the public holiday list ?
