Hey guys, I want to open this topic because I feel it is important for everyone who may not know on how to do it.
Anyway, I want to service my brakes on Hyundai i30 2011. Currently its on 60k miles. I never done this before and I assume the previous owner didn't so I decided to follow this video:

So hopefully this will help you guys.

But something important I got out of him is he said that the counter pins (or slider pins) are best to be silicone pasted with the factories silicone paste. He starts to explain this at the following time: 4:20. So does anybody knows the factory type of silicone paste used on these counter pins or slider pins?

Many thanks guys!

P.S. If you have any further advice on servicing brakes just give your opinion.

I should think that the silicone paste is available at a good motor factors as well as the copper slip. Really good explanation by Eric. Can you set up a video when you do yours as mine is a 2011 i30. It may give me the go to have a go. Thanks naser_1998x.

Hey, its an easy job. I wrote a guide here :link: HOW TO: Brake service - Glide pins and cleaning last year. I do them twice a year(~20k km), but the salt/winter conditions work the pins hard, and its a quick job when the wheels are off for switching between winter and summers. Takes me about 20min/wheel, if your just lubing its probably a 5min job once youve done ot a few times.

Any silicone paste will do, you want it silicone based so it doesnt dry the rubber seals out. You want one with the consistency of a paste, ie not runny(works but hard to ger it to stay in the caliper), smear the pin and leave a lump at the tip. Push the pin in and give it a few turns and pumps to distribute the paste and rub any excess that is pushed out into the rubber grommit/glove.

Pin should glide smoothly back and forth, if not it might be damaged/scraped.

never rely on one source of information in these cases.
I watch several videos from different users (if available) and notice the differences.
its just an example of what there is on youtube.

Wow! That low mileage for the year! Although my wife has only done around 20,000 kms in her 2014 Tourer.
