Ok, I'll start this one off..

Due to certain health issue I try to have a good walk or two every day. The weather has been fairly wet lately so was a bit overdue for a good one. Did about a 6km loop today in my current City (Devonport) Thought I'd share a few photos. Nothing amazing but a nice walk just the same.

This was another reason I needed a good walk.. Had a counter lunch "special" who me?  $18 for a senior's special (Choice of about 8 mains, a glass of Red or White Wine and a Triffle with cream and Icecream! (for dessert)

Walked about 50 metres and came across my cars long lost twin sister from Queensland! I did do a double take!

This was the view of the Bass Strait Ferry (Spirit of Tasmania) that we will be going on later in the year, from roughly where I was parked.

There's a bit to see walking up to the mouth of our river (called the Mersey) we even have a small ferry that takes people across it.

There is a statue called Spirit of the Sea (bigger than lifesize)

Me with my Parkinson's mask on!  Couldn't get my smile to work today!

Free exercise area

Impressive skate park

War Memorial..

Distant view of the Bluff lighthouse.. Those concrete pillars are part of a memorial walk ..

Coffee Break at the Drift Cafe (at bluff beach)

View of beach from front of Cafe

View of the mouth of the river from near the Bluff LIghthouse.

The Bluff Lighthouse

A couple of lovely homes that overlook the area I walked along (taken on a previous walk)

Considering I did bugger all in the morning glad to get my 10,000 steps up (ended up doing about 12,000)

Target had dropped right back after a wet week of shorter walks..

Thanks for looking!

Those houses look great, we have nothing similar in the UK. I bet they're worth a fortune.

Hi Craig 84 thanks for joining in and for the photos.. I'm originally a city boy but appreciate wide open spaces like your photos. We live on 2 acres. Real estate in Devonport is relatively cheap compared to the capital cities, but they are in a prime part of the town, so are probably worth A $1.2 - 1.5 million. My house would be worth 50% more if it was on the river.. :fum:

Nice pictures! Always good with a nice walk!

Third from the top, the ferry looks very familiar, maybe its just the livery that is very similar to Viking Lines livery, but the ship looks like its s sister ship to the Amorella/isabella/gabriella ships but I can't find any information that one of the four ships would do in Tas.

This might tell you a bit more. There are 2 of them Spirit 1 and Spirit 2

Ok, so a couple of days after my Devonport walk I did another in Ulverstone (a town of about 8000 14,500 people just 15 minutes west of Devonport)

:link: Ulverstone, Tasmania - Wikipedia,_Tasmania

It's a lovely place (I lived there once) very tourist friendly with a nice river, adequate shops, free parking etc...

Here are a few photos from my relatively short walk (about 4 or 5kms..)

Parked at the top of the CBD near this clock tower which is a sort of war memorial.

Several attractive old building in the town including Furner's Hotel (one of 3)

Looking up the main street (bit of a drab day sorry)

View of one of the restaurants I sometimes have lunch at (Pier 1)

Another lunch haunt (Pedros)

View of the unusual curved Bridge

Story of Bridge and its predecessors

View from matching curved railway bridge upstream

View from other side of railway bridge

View of river mouth from bridge

One of two great kid's playgrounds in the town (other one has a dinosaur theme)

Plenty of information boards around

View of just one of the beaches as I was leaving.

Snack to tide me over until tea time.. (I do it pretty tough)

Thanks for looking.

Awesome place to have close by for walks .. photos don't do it justice (heaps more to see)

Once again very nice Dazz  :goodjob2: Love to see photos of Tassie. Perhaps you could do an extended tour all around with lots of photos and give that new car a good run.  :D

Good pic's Dazz, that custard tart doesn't look anywhere near as nice as the one from the Drift Café.

I try to walk at lunch time each day.  In half an hour I walk around 3 kms. I have discovered audio books, so I put in my earphones and go.

I also go to the gym 3 days a week and spend around 35 minutes on the treadmill.   The audiobook helps pass the time there too.  It's either that or watch the tv with the subtitles on as there are classes going on at the other end of the room.

Sorry, nothing anywhere near as nice to take photos of in Melton as there are in tassie.  And no, I will not take photos in the gym, it is a ladies only gym so you blokes aren't allowed.

I used to encourage my ex to walk at least 3 kilometres a day. I was hoping by the end of the week she'd be over 20 kms away!

Been doing up to 5 kilometre walks almost every morning lately trying to walk off some stiffness and a few Christmas Calories (but that's a losing battle!)

Here are just a few pix from some recent walks..

Latrobe.

Ulverstone.

This morning (Don River Railway and walk via Sawdust Bridge and Aquatic Centre)
Don River Railway is only 5 minutes drive from us. The 4.5 Kilometre walk starts near the railway and loops back around to it.

** Did you see what I did there?

Been doing a few walks myself recently, mostly with my daughter when visiting her in Brisbane).

The first was the afternoon before we went to the Paul McCartney concert.
Across the bridge into Brisbane CBD, down Queen St and back up Adelaide St via the King George Square Markets.

Picturesque old church bravely holding out against the high rise.

Great lamps on the outside of Brisbane City Hall

Christmas Tree in King George Square. Those little blocks are a sign of the times. Concrete bollards.  :disapp:

The Kurilpa (foot and cycle) Bridge across the Brisbane River. From the western end of this, only about 5 minutes walk to my daughter's unit.

The morning after the concert, a quick walk through South Bank to a café for breakfast. Couple of shots along the way.

Epicurious Garden with plenty of development going on on the high ground behind.

The Epicurious Garden is a must-visit destination at South Bank for foodies, gardening enthusiasts and all those in-between.

Head along to explore the garden’s exquisite plant life and see what fresh produce looks, feels and smells like; talk to our dedicated gardener volunteers (who are onsite from 7-11.30am on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays) and learn about inner-city gardening; or read our recipe suggestions and learn how to cook with fresh produce in your own home. All produce in the garden is organic, and is rotated seasonally throughout the year.

If you stop by from 7am-2pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, you can also collect free produce from the garden’s harvest cart. The cart operates on first-in, best-dressed basis, so get in early to avoid disappointment.

An earlier walk with Claire near our home on the Sunshine Coast.
This walk takes us into the main shopping centre area of Caloundra.

Looking across the Pumicestone Passage from a footbridge.

Looking the other way from the same footbridge. Great views from these units.

Caravan and Cabin Park, also on the shores of Pumicestone Passage.

See next post for more of the walk along Pumicestone Passage.
