I spotted this in the specifications:
"Convenience opening/closing function with remote - all windows".

Has anyone been able to get the remote window OPENING function to work?

Welcome Mark,

I only have the non-premium SR which I don't think has that feature, but I'm guessing it works the same as in this video below for the Golf.

It's a bit of a cryptic video (what language is that - Irish I think) but it appears you unlock the car then hold down the unlock button for a second or two until the windows come down. To remote put them up, do the same with the lock button.

I checked my PDF copy of the PD model manual but I think it pertains to the European models and couldn't find reference to that feature. So nothing in your manual? Anyway, try this..

Thanks for your reply Dazzler.  Thanks for that video, I believe the language is English.

Looks like you need a PDF copy of the Australian manual for the i30 PD, so here it is:
http://drive.google.com/open?id=0B-1HMK8bqKO8ck80QklJS0RVbE0

on page 3-29 it mentions the remote CLOSING feature, which works as described.

The "opening/closing function with remote - all windows" feature is present in Elite, Premium and SR Premium VARIANTS of the i30 PD, according to the specifications I linked in my opening post.
You're correct that your SR doesn't have this feature.

My question remains: is anybody with an i30 PD able to OPEN their windows using the remote?

Hi again Mark,

Sorry I didn't spot your link in the first post. If you look closely at the specs the Active and base SR don't get that remote feature. I did go down and test it before I looked at your link though!  :crazy1: (obviously it didn't work...)

Thanks for the link to the Aussie Manual. Good to have a copy of both now. I'm starting to think the Specs are a misprint(error) and it's only the up feature on Aussie PD's. The Euro has the window info in a similar part of the Manual, but makes no mention of the remote function.

I'm surprised even the remote up works as it says the ignition must be on for the electric windows to operate. Which is what I have found when in the car.

Our video man does indeed speak English, but not very well in my opinion!  :undecided:

Hopefully someone with a PD Elite or Premium can try it for us..

Maybe @NayuluTjuta

PD SR Premium certainly has this feature.  Hold the unlock button for a long press and the vehicle unlocks followed by windows all opening.  Reverse is also true.  A long press of the lock button on the remote closes all windows and locks the vehicle.

This function is identical to that on our VW Amarok Highline.

I can only close my windows using the car key. Not open them.
It's a bit weird, since I had this function on most of my previous cars and I could also roll them down using the key....

I agree that it "has the feature" (since it's in the specifications), but the question is, "Can YOU actually get it to work?"
Bob, have you ever actually OPENED the windows using the remote?

I tried it just now on my i30 PD Premium.  Firmly holding the unlock button for 10 or more seconds on the remote makes the car unlock, but the windows don't open.
In this other thread someone mentions there's a combination of:
unlock-lock-unlock&hold which is required to open the windows. (tried that too, still doesn't work)

Bob, does it mention window opening using the remote, in your manual?
If you really can do it, would you care to post a video?

Been off the site for a while with a few things happening.  All is well.  Did have an eye operation which has been a success, which is great.  The real distraction from the car interest has been my major home renovation which includes an off grid installation incorporated into a laundry Upgrade.  Will post details elsewhere some day.

Re using the remote for window up/down, it definitely does work.  Hold down the unlock button to unlock the vehicle and lower the windows. The windows will go down with the unlock button and up with the lock button.  Take your finger off the button and the windows will stop.  Hold it down, and they start moving, depending on the button pressed.  The completely lock the windows with the remote, hold down the lock button until windows are at the top and the indicators flash.

Thanks for that Bob. You have been busy! Glad you are ok and the eye op went well. Be very interested in the off grid installation when you get time to share.

Sounds like Mark70 has a problem with his?

Wow!  That video is exactly the kind of proof I need for when I take my i30 PD to the dealer to get this fixed.  I can show him that an i30, in Australia actually has the feature as specified.
Thank you very muchly, Bob! :D

I think that is a useful function if you have a pet in the car. or it's extremely hot .
I remember a few years back my m8 showing me his  focus titanium could do that via remote. that same m8 has always loved thing's like that. I remember him driving a caddy convertible was the huge model think seventy's & had an electric soft top he liked putting the top up and down while cruising. back in 70's that was novel.

Think it's only premium PD models that do that ASA. Has she recently updated?  :undecided:

Hi All, new i30 SR Premium MY18 owner here.

I had this issue with the "Convenience opening/closing function with remote - all windows" - only working with closing the windows.

Visited local Hyundai service centre and they've now fixed this issue so windows can be opened & closed via the smart key.

It appears there's an ECU configuration required to be set at Pre-Delivery to allow this function. Seems some dealers are missing this step.

Hope this helps other SR Premium owners that may be experiencing this issue.

Cheers,
Pappy

Maybe the Ecu mod for Windows opening closing can be added to standard  SR models by the dealer ? :whistler:

I think it's more likely a BCM mod rather than an ECU one.

I thought the same thing and just assumed that BCM was meant. :goodjob:

hmmm i have an SR premium but don't have this feature working. Should i ring the service centre tomorrow to get that rectified? Is it something they program into the remote or something?

Thanks to this thread, I was informed and raised it when we picked up Mrs G's. The dealer promised to do this at the free service. :victory:

Hi there.. I've contacted Hyundai for thewindows auto down feature while holding unlock button on remote.  This has to be enabled by service team which takes a few minutes ands is free.  I'm having mine done tomorrow😊😊

Must have been a different thread but I reported that after the dealer said it couldn't be programmed, I experimented when parking later in the day and it worked out of the box.
