Hi all,

After 14 years our first family car, a 2003 Mazda 6 has been traded in for what will now become my own car and not the family car.  I look forward to driving it around the Adelaide hills once the initial drive in period is up.  Time to get a bit of pride back into car ownership.

Its a Marina Blue PD SR Premium, picked it up on Friday afternoon.  I've done about 250kms already and mid 8 L/100kms in that time which I'm happy with as I live in the Adelaide Hills.

There's very little to not like about this car except maybe for the unprotected fuel cap, what's up with that!

I'm looking forward to contributing to the forum.

I guess Reslo is referring to there not being a key lock on the fuel cap itself

@Reslo  locking caps aren't really necessary nowadays as the fuel door is locked when doors are locked.

Welcome resto... They are a great car (i've already done 15,000 km's in mine). I have replaced the air filter with a K & N version and I noticed yesterday my overall economy in hilly Tasmania has dropped to 7.2 L/100 kms according to the trip PC. Although being retired I don't probably do as many short trips as some.

You don't have to be too gentle with modern cars during the run in. With the DCT it doesn't need big revs to perform, especially in sport mode.

As Craig says the fuel cap is protected when the car is locked.

Aha!... the dealer didn't point out to me that the fuel door locks when the car is locked.  That makes more sense.

Did that when I  got a new ranger at work.
Tried everything I could think of , swore profusely at it,   
then unlocked car and got owners manual out          felt like a real dhead .
Oh, I was the first to get one,  do you think I told anyone else ??

Don't feel to bad - I recall day 1 of picking up my GD and going straight to the filling station, only to find myself posting in the i30 club asking where the fekkin filler cap release lever was

Congrats on the new car LOVE the colour-same as ours will be.
We should be picking up our new one (just premium-not sr) in the next week or so. Very excited!!
