Just the other day, one of my sons asked me about this.

Essentially I told him that as air is mostly nitrogen and it's the oxygen which leaks out first, every time you top up your tyres, you're adding to the nitrogen content.
So why pay for it?
And if you don't check your tyres every couple of weeks, you deserve whatever you get.

When we took our GD for its 1 year service,  they asked us about going the nitrogen in the tyres. Whats wrong with the South Korean air ? , can't it mix with Australian air ? was the reply.

BTW, I know the individual who was responsible for the introduction of nitrogen in tyres as a commercial proposition.
He came to Goodyear after a stint overseas working for an equipment supplier.
Despite the fact that his history was not looked upon favourably by many of my colleagues and some dealers, we got on pretty well and I occasionally ran interference for him.

In that case I'd suggest looking at your nitrogen/methane ratio
