Title: Backup OEM camera retrofit
Post by: aanastasiou4 on April 24, 2018, 12:49:46
I retrofitted today the OEM hyundai badge camera. I only connected the open/close function since I am waiting for my GD-03 head-unit to arrive!

So this will fit any GD model?

Yes! You have to remove the badge of a non camera fitted model and cut the hole for the camera assembly! You have to splice the wires and extend them to go all the way to the radio (gd-02, gd-03 radios only)
Red wire: connected to the battery
Black wire: negative
Green wire: connected to the backup bulb
Blue wire: (ignition) connected to the + of the cigarette plug.
The above wires are only for the open/close function. When I connect the camera I will explain that too!

@aanastasiou4

 :ta:

What steps did you take to avoid future corrosion issues on the cut edge and what did you use to cut an oval hole. Was it tricky?

I used touch up paint on the cut edges. To cut the hole I marked the area and used my drill to cut through!

Congratulations for the great job!
For the opening / closing function you explained the cable connection!
Can you explain the camera connection as you promised?

You have to extend the wires from the camera connector to run them from the tailgate all the way to the radio.
The camera wires are coloured so it is easy to install it.

Blue wire: camera power. Connect it on the reverse light. Also because I couldn’t got the signal wire on the radio to work I connected this blue wire in the signal pin hole (position a9 on the radio connector)
Red wire: video out (a15 pin hole on the radio)
Green wire: video ground (a14 pin hole on the radio)
Black wire: camera ground (a5 pin hole on the radio).
This diagram might help you.
