Title: PD Park Light
Post by: Dantrasy on August 18, 2019, 03:34:04
Hi

I have a PD.3 i30 N Line

The light circled (park light?) below does not come on. It never has.

Should this light come on??? I'm thinking 'yes' but would like to hear from someone here. Thanks.

The owners manual indicates that the DRLs and Parking lamp are the same thing. At the back of the manual they are both listed as LED. And there's this picture that doesn't even address the bulb in question:

What does it look like from behind the cluster? Anything "wirey" appear to be attached to it?

I've removed the dust cap from the high beam. There's more than 2 wires inside. My father-in-law and I investigated it yesterday. But our job yesterday was replacing the rear indicators with LEDs, we didn't spend much time on this.

If you get the angle right a glass bulb can be seen when standing in front of the car.

I've seen a video that acknowledges the existence of the circled bulb. The vid says to remove the high beam light to gain access to the smaller (T10) bulb under it. But I have not done that yet.

I'm starting to think the Premium version of this car has this bulb wired up, but my non-premium does not.

I think the premium uses the DLRs as indicators too. Maybe this little bulb comes on while driving the premium so there's always some sort of DRL, even when indicting a turn?

Good post - I've been considering upgrading my headlight bulbs etc and wondered what that one was - I suspect you're on the right path with it being a 'dummy' or similar, haven't looked into it much yet as am focused on the high and low beams instead.

Interesting...I'll have to have a look at my car again (premium not N-line) but I have different lights to you in any case because of that fact. You can see some pics here:

And yes my DRL's act as indicators too.
