Title: Uploading photos using IMGUR.COM (new method)
Post by: CraigB on December 19, 2016, 03:49:15
Starting from the beginning, click on "New Post" at the top in imgur.

Then click on "Browse" to add your picture.

Once the picture is converted then hover your mouse over the picture to get the code to show up, then click the drop down at the right of the code and click "Get Share links" and copy the BBCode to paste here on the forum

The problem is, the only links that will show as images are those that have both the [img] tags and end with .jpg or .jpeg.

I amend some posts simply by adding .jpeg to the posted links.

As Craig shows, the required link is the "BBCode (Forums)" one

If you're manually amending posts missing the file extension, why not do it just once with code? :whistler:

You create the required regex - I'll insert it :P

What, without an all-expenses-paid scripting course? You'll take code from an unqualified pseudocode hack?

Gee, just parse all instances of image links without ".jpg[/" or ".jpeg[/", then modify to insert?

My new posting is still relatively boring. Send me a link to the manual and I might try making something automatic.

On the rare occasion I've needed to host an image, I've randomly selected one of my many free sites, but I'm feeling left out so I must try Craig's good advice soon. :D

I have said before, I hate PB.
I used it again today and it must be THE most user-unfriendly site.
So, so slow.
I just need to work out how to save all my pics on there before moving to Imgur.
I had issues a year or two ago with my PB account and had to start a new one and then wanted to merge the two.
PB were so unhelpful, they had no intention of assisting me at all.
So I still have two accounts, one for which PB refuse to give me the password, despite knowing it is definitely mine.

The day that Malaysian airliner went missing I was presenting a topic at a conference in KL. One of my slides on cyber concerns had a screenshot I had taken accessing PB while Firefox"s Ghostery add-on was running. You should try it some time. I listed 42 independent spy/ad/stats agents lurking on that site. Never see me going there!

That would have been embarrassing if it showed all the blocked trackers while doing a cyber security lecture   :whistler:

Do you need an account  :undecided: that's one of the reasons imgur is so handy as you don't need an account (which is really just another thing to get hacked :Pout:) and it's safer to keep your photos local and upload when necessary :goodjob2:

I will be going to Imgur just as soon as I work out how to save my photos from my two accounts with PB.

FWIW, the Spanish forum users have been known to use  :link: Postimage.org ? free image hosting / image upload (http://postimg.org)

We tried that last December but postimg was more often down than up so we occasionally 'lost' image views.

Plus, at the time, it seemed postimg was struggling financially. Good to see it survived.
