Hi guys,

I have gotten to the point where I would like to add some more horses to my 2012 GD Premium but I have no idea where to start or how to go about doing this.
Is there anyone that might be able to advise what I can do to up the performance of my car? Right now I have no budget but I'm looking for all options, kind of like a start small and upgrade over time.
I'm based in Perth so anyone local that might be able to help point me in the direction of good local suppliers would be much appreciated.

There’s not really anything available for the 1.8ltr’s, no ECU tuning either the last time I checked a couple of years ago.

You could possibly modify your intake box and install a K&N filter, install a better free flowing muffler though it will make little difference...a little snappier on takeoff.

Being you’re Perth I’d be happy to meet up and show you what’s required for airbox modification as I’ve done mine which keeps a stock look with increased flow.

I added a race chip tuning box on mine. Check it out! racechip.co.uk.

Racechip don’t do chips for the Aussie 1.8ltr non turbo petrol models.

We also use racechip.com.au in Australia  :link: Performance chips ? Chip tuning by RaceChip - RaceChip Australia

Thanks for getting back to me about this.

How much of a difference did the airbox make for you?
Which upgraded can I do myself and which ones will I have to get a pro to do for me?
Do you know of a reliable place in Perth to go to and get these done?
How much would all of these upgrades set me back roughly??
Sorry for the million questions

I'm currently out of town so I won't be able to meet up any time soon but I'll hit you up when I get back for a meet up.

Airbox mod would cost roughly $100 for the K&N filter and about $20 for some 3" flex piping, I'd guesstimate a few HP...you'll feel minor torque and response improvement and you can do it yourself or I can show/help you if you like.

I would probably have enough stuff here to even make up a pod filter setup for you though I personally think the improved flow stock look works just as well and retains cool air flow.

A Walker turbo muffler (straight through design) would be about $180 fitted, again the improvements are noticed bottom end being a little more snappy on take off.

That sounds pretty good to be honest and not as expensive as I thought it would be.

I'll drop you a PM a bit later and we can go through what I am required to buy and provide before we meet up.

PM replied with some links for the K&N filter from Sparesbox eBay and some 3” TFI Racing flexible intake pipe from Autobarn.

The flex pipe can be fitted whenever you get it, don’t need the filter to fit.
